Spencer Brown of Lenox is making the most of his time in the NFL, playing with the Buffalo Bills.
In his senior year at Lenox, he had 24 catches for 388 yards and seven touchdowns as a tight end and had 67 tackles, a state leading 17 sacks, and four fumble recoveries on defense. He was named All State.
He redshirted his first year at Northern Iowa, where he gained 80 pounds and became 311 pounds. He showed promise the next year after moving from tight end to offensive lineman, but went down with a knee injury. But by his junior year, he was named second team All-Missouri Valley Conference squad.
He declared for the NFL draft in 2021 instead of playing his redshirt senior season. He was very quick for being 6’8” and 311 pounds, posting a 4.94 in the 40-yard dash. His vertical is 31.5 inches. He was selected by the Buffalo Bills and got his first start on October 3rd, 2021.
By 2023, Brown started all 17 of his games and signed a four year contract extension with the Bills in 2024, keeping him with the squad through 2028.
While Josh Allen gets all the credit for keeping the Bills in the hunt every year, it takes a line to block for him. And as a team, with Brown and the rest of the Buffalo linemen, the Bills surrendered the ball only 8 times all year last year. Allen completed 63.6% of his passes with 3,731 yards and ran for 531 more while they had a 1,000 yard rusher in James Cook.
And while Allen got all the credit for leading Buffalo to a come from behind 41-40 win over Baltimore Sunday, Brown and the rest of the linemen gave him lots of time to throw as he was leading the Bills back from the dead.
