Brooklyn Smith's Triple Flips Script for JH Tigers

North Harrison's junior high took an early lead, but a triple by Brooklyn Smith flipped the script and Worth County went on to win 5-2 Thursday.

Tiger pitcher Gabbey Maudlin started off fighting the strike zone against North Harrison, walking McKenna Hill and Tayley Johnson. Hadley Williams cleared the bases with a two run triple to make it 2-0. But Maudlin settled down and didn't allow another hit, getting out of the inning with a pair of pop flies back to the mound and another one to Kinley Fletchall at first base.

Shamrock pitcher Hadley Williams made a bid for a no hitter, but Gwynn Healy broke it up in the second with a one out single. Williams struck out the next two to get out of the inning and struck out the next two to start the third.

But Worth County opened the floodgates with two outs after Kaydence Downing beat out an infield hit and Kinley Fletchall reached on an error to keep the inning going. Renae Gladstone followed with a base hit to cut it to 2-1 and then Brooklyn Smith emptied the bases with a two run triple to flip the script and put Worth County up 3-2. Gwynn Healy followed with her second hit to make it 4-2.

The Tigers added another run in the fourth when Kaydence Downing singled and stole second. Kinley Fletchall grounded out to the mound, but Downing came all the way around to score from second to make it 5-2.
