Georgia Taylor set a high school course record at Worth County's home meet Wednesday night as Worth County's girls golf team posted a three stroke win. She shot a 34 for the Tigers. Tracy Kean once shot a 36 there. Taylor has eclipsed the NEN school record as well; Jacqueline and Michelle Schulte regularly shot around 40 when Northeast Nodaway competed on its own. Their coach, Kirby Dowis, said he couldn't remember either one of them shooting a 34.
Taylor and Stanberry's top golfer, Addison Graham, along with North Harrison's Lani Briggs were pushing each other with Graham posting a 36 and Briggs shooting a 46. Graham is only a freshman, so she will have ample opportunity to try to break Taylor's mark.
For Worth County, Marissa Schmitz had 46, Emsley Spainhower had 48, and Bailey Steele had 54. Brynn Chapman showed a lot of improvement from last year, nearly breaking into the mix with a 56. For North Harrison, besides Briggs, Jaxcynn Hansel had 50. Gracie Young, trying her hand for the first time, showed improvement, bringing her score down to 52.
The night after Worth County won a cliffhanger over Stanberry in softball, they won a cliffhanger with them in golf, with the Tigers getting a score of 182 to Stanberry's 185.
After the meet, the Tigers honored their two seniors, Marissa Schmitz and Bailey Steele.
