Addie Iddings fanned ten Norborne/Hardin Central batters as Pattonsburg broke open the game late and got a 5-1 win. Iddings only allowed two hits and walked none in the win.
The Panthers have had a roller-coaster year, but they have been much more effective when they can play defense. In their three wins, they have held opponents to under double figures. In their six losses, they have allowed 10 or more runs in each of them. They average almost six runs per game, so if they can get more consistent at the plate, they can gel into a dangerous team by the end of the season.
For the Panthers, Kaitlyn Estes and Emsleigh McCrary each had 2 hits. Addie Iddings, Carlie Pittsenbarger, Rosalynn Cameron, and Cheyanne Miller all had 1. Addie Iddings, Cheyanne Miller, and Kaitlyn Estes all doubled. Jayden Goble stole a base. The Panthers had good plate discipline, forcing the Aggie pitcher to throw 132 pitches. Iddings only needed 95, 64 of which she threw for strikes.
Pattonsburg jumped right out in front in the first when Jayden Goble was plunked. She stole second and Addie Iddings doubled her home to make it 1-0.
NHC got its first hit in the third, but two catches by Carlie Pittsenbarger in left and one by Cheyenne Miller at second ended the threat.
Cheyenne Miller doubled to right to start the Panther fifth. The ball got away and Miller circled the bases to make it 2-0. Later in the inning, Addie Iddings walked. Kaitlyn Estes doubled to score her from first to make it 3-0.
Four errors and a sac fly allowed the Aggies to plate their lone run in the sixth to make it 3-1. The goal for the Panthers will be to avoid the one bad inning; they made four errors in the sixth and none the rest of the game.
But Norborne/Hardin Central returned the compliment as Addie Iddings reached on an error to start the seventh. Isabelle Burger was plunked and Clare Christensen ran for her. Kaitlyn Estes got her second hit, a base hit to center as Iddings scored to make it 4-1 and Christensen took second. Vanessa Weigand walked to load the bases. Emsleigh McCrary singled to make it 5-1.
Iddings set down the Aggies in order to preserve the win.
