Camden Griffith Catches 111 Yards, Rushes for 86 in Panther Win

Pattonsburg improved to 4-0 Friday with an 80-40 win over Princeton. The game turned into another track meet, with Princeton’s two-headed monster, Mitchell Walker and Judd Henke eating Pattonsburg alive. But Gage Fortner countered with 20 completions on 23 attempts for 237 yards and eight touchdowns and no picks. Camden Griffith had a big night for the Panthers, catching 111 yards and running for another 86.

As a team, Pattonsburg rushed for 133 yards, for “only” 370 total yards, low for a team which normally gets 500-600 a night even during a down year. However, they got a 40-yard pick six from Wyatt Maize and a 60-yard kickoff return for a touchdown from Gavin Humphrey, which skewed the numbers.

Wyatt Maize had 5 rushes for 29 yards and Gage Fortner had 3 carries for 18 yards. Besides Griffith, Gavin Humphrey had 6 catches for 74 yards. Drake Sperry had 4 catches for 34 yards, Wyatt Maize 2 catches for 10 yards, Alex Young 1 catch for 6 yards, and Ryker Fortner 1 catch for 2 yards.

Pattonsburg only needed 38 plays to get to 370 yards, getting nearly 10 yards a crack.

Mitchell Walker, who had hurt Pattonsburg in the past and showed the ability to spin out of tackles in the Worth County game, did all he could Friday for Princeton, throwing for 99 yards and running for 89 more. Judd Henke threw for 148 yards. They completed passes to six different receivers.

For Pattonsburg, Gavin Humphrey and Jace Estrada led with 7 tackles each. Collin Mason had 6. Wyatt Maize and Camden Griffith had 5. Alex Young and Beau Gibson had 4. Remington White had 3, Drake Sperry had 2, and Ryker Fortner and Andrew Craig had 1.

Jace Estrada had 3 tackles for loss. Collin Mason had 2 and Remington White 1. Remington White and Jace Estrada had 1 sack each.
