JoAnn Young was born December 31, 1929 to Frank Celoud and Gladys (Moran) Celoud in Sedalia, Missouri. Jo Ann attended college in both Missouri and Kansas and graduated with a degree in Education.
JoAnn married George Young and they resided in Grant City, Missouri where they enjoyed a mutual love of horses and draft horse pulling. They were most well known for their winning team of "Pete and Pat" who won many horse pulls in the heavy draft division throughout many midwestern states. JoAnn attended church at the Methodist church of Grant City and also loved antique shopping and travel. During her life JoAnn travelled throughout the world including such countries as Russia, France, Spain and many more. Her travel companion was George and when he couldn't go she traveled often with Kathleen Eckard of Stanberry, Mo.
JoAnn spent much of her time keeping the home and property in pristine condition. She had many lifelong friends throughout Worth County and steadfastly refused to relocate as she considered Grant City her home.
When her health failed she lived for a short period of time in Macon, Mo. so she could be near her two step-daughters. JoAnn passed away on November 19 at the Loch Haven Nursing home of Macon, Mo.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband George Young. She is survived by three step-children, Jane Thompson of Macon, Mo., Cindy O'Laughlin of Shelbina, Mo. and David Young of Charleston, South Carolina.
