The North Nodaway Board of Education has named Chris Turpin as their new superintendent. He previously substitute taught at North Nodaway while he was getting his teaching degree. He said the school felt like home, and he always wanted to go back. “I’m planning on making this my last stop,” he said to the Express Thursday. He will take over when the current superintendent, James Simmelink, retires at the end of the school year on June 30th. Simmelink is retiring.
Turpin has been a fixture at Union Star for the last 11 years, serving as Principal. He said the school had a lot of potential thanks to the new wind farm revenue. He said he wanted to see more technology at North Nodaway and build relationships, teamwork, and collaboration.
Turpin is married to Renee Turpin, who serves as the Principal at Craig. They live in Conception Junction, where they send their kids to school.
