Austin Welch, Jaxon Anderson Make All-State

Two Tigers were named to the All-State Squad for the 2019 season. Austin Welch was named First Team Offensive Line and Second Team Defensive Line for the Tigers. He grew into the positions over the previous season and this year, and he was one of the reasons the Tiger ground game kept churning yards despite losing Andrew Alarcon. He will return next year. On the defensive line, he had 1.5 sacks and 71 tackles.

Jaxon Anderson was the Defensive End for the Tigers, one of the most difficult positions in eight man. Typically, the job is to turn in runningbacks so that they won’t get big gains; since there are three fewer people in eight man, if a back gets outside of a defensive end, he is frequently gone. They also have to rush the quarterback and pick up backs coming out of the backfield. Anderson excelled in all three areas, getting 73 tackles and 11 sacks.
