Bluejay Boys Fall to Rock Port in Defensive Battle

Northeast Nodaway’s boys fell 48-38 Friday to Rock Port in a defensive battle. The Bluejays led 21-19 at the half, but Rock Port broke up a close game with a 15-6 third quarter to get the win. The Bluejays didn’t have an answer to Ethan Brumbaugh, who had 20 points and five 3-pointers for Rock Port.

Auston Pride had 15 to lead the Bluejays. Ben Boswell had 12 and two 3-pointers. Dylan McIntyre had 4, Mitchell Sherry 3, and Drew Wiederholt and Reed McIntyre 2. The Bluejays were 6 of 10 from the free throw line. The Bluejays have shown an ability to hold teams down, but they have struggled to score this year.

The girls showed some improvement; pitted against a solid Rock Port squad, they fell behind 16-8 after one, but kept their deficit at nine points through the second and third quarter before Rock Port pulled away for the 49-25 win.
