Tiger Girls Third at Newtown-Harris Invitational, Win Three Relays

Worth County's girls were third at the Newtown-Harris Invitational at Graceland last Tuesday, getting 67 points for the day. Stanberry was first with 123 points while Maysville was second with 113. Worth County was ahead of Winston, who had 62 while the host school Newtown-Harris came in next with 43.

Rebecca Moore narrowly missed placing in the Shot Put. The first eight teams scored, but Moore came in 9th with a throw of 26'1 1/2". But Rebecca was second with a season high in the discus, getting a throw of 90'8" to raise her personal best. She was 2'3" behind the winner Mercedes Foster, who threw for 92'11". Brooke Gilland was 10th with a throw of 77'7".

Katie Mullock was 6th in the Long Jump with a jump of 14 feet. She was 2'6" off the pace set by Tori Blythe of Maysville. Stormy Sherer was 12th with a jump of 11'8 1/2".

Worth County repeated their duel with Maysville and once again came out on top in the 4x800, this time getting a time of 11:30.05. That was 12 seconds ahead of Maysville.

The Tigers then finished 2-3 in the 100 Hurdles. Brooke Gilland was second with a time of 18.04, which was her lowest time of the year so far. Jessica Garrett was third with a time of 18.16.

Jessica Garrett placed for the first time ever in the 100, getting 8th with a time of 14.90. That was 1.35 seconds off the pace set by Saige Johnson of Gilman City.

The Tigers won the 4x200 Relay with a time of 1:59.05. That was one hundredth of a second ahead of Stanberry as the Tigers took their second relay win of the afternoon. The Tigers would then win their third relay of the afternoon as they would win the 4x100 with a time of 56.42. That was 12 hundredths of a second ahead of the Maysville squad.

In the 400 Meter Dash, Stormy Sherer was 14th with a time of 1:22.28.

Lauren Null moved from the 1600 to the 800 this year and finished 5th with a time of 3:00.77. That was 11.77 seconds behind the winning time of Shanon Luke of Stanberry.

Kiley Reynolds placed in the 200 Meter Dash. She was 8th with a time of 30.83, which was 1.53 seconds behind Allison Luke of Stanberry.

Worth County didn't quite make it four for four, but they did well in the 4x400, getting third with a time of 4:40.16. That was slightly under nine seconds off the pace set by Stanberry.
