Obituary: Wilma Rowe Auten 1926-2011

Funeral Services for Wilma Auten, 84, of Red Oak, formerly of Stanton and Bethesda, were held 10:30 Tuesday, April 19th at the Walker-Merrick Funeral Home in Clarinda with interment at the Clarinda Cemetery. Visitation with the family present was 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials in memory of Wilma may be given to a fund established in her name.

Wilma Rowe Auten was born August 11, 1926 in Sheridan to Oakley and Anna Pearl (Barber) Rowe. She was married December 11, 1945 to Otis Auten. The couple farmed several places until settling in the Bethesda area. Wilma later in life became a nurses aide and worked at the Stanton Care Center. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, making her grandchildren always feel special and appreciated.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Otis; parents Oakley and Anna Rowe; daughter Barbara Jean Auten; sister Donna Pearl Berg; brother Roy Rowe; and sister-in-law Mona Rowe.

She is survived by children Russel Auten of Topeka, KS; Dewain (Lynne) Auten of Omaha; Larry (Vickie) Auten of Clarinda; Mary Ann (Bill) Richardson of Yorktown, IA; Linda (Larry) Stouder of Malvern, IA; Rick (Mary Jane) of Bethesda, IA; 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; brothers Dale (Barbara) Rowe of Sheridan; Wilbur (Patty) Rowe of Bedford; Raymond Rowe of Phoenix; and sister-in-law Marion Rowe of Sheridan.
