Janice Borey Steps Down as Tiger Girls Track Coach

Janice Borey has stepped down as the Worth County Girls Track Coach, the school announced Sunday. She has won seven state championships, and she was inducted into the Missouri Track & Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2016.

She wrote the grant that gave Worth County its all-weather track in the late 1990’s and coached countless Tiger track athletes.

Anna Gladstone and Lonee French will take over the track program. Anna was a standout track athlete under Borey and continued her career at Northwest Missouri State, where, in 2023, she helped the Bearcats win an MIAA track title for the first time since 1999.

Borey won State Track Championships in 2018, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2001, 2000, and 1999.

 

Tiger 4x100 Relay Teams, Lucas Frisch Medal at State

The Worth County 4x100 Relay teams and Lucas Frisch medaled at state in Jefferson City Friday and Saturday.

Lucas Frisch was sixth in the 110 Hurdles with a time of 15.70. He narrowly missed qualifying in the 300 Hurdles, missing out by seven hundredths of a second.

The boys 4x100 team of Andrew Griffin, Bo Collins, Cole Ruby, and Lucas Frisch was fourth with a time of 44.64, breaking their own school record. The girls 4x100 team of Keria Hardy, Audrey Runde, Kristen Tracy, and Megan Tracy was fourth in their event with a time of 51.92.

 

Tiger Boys Win District Track Championship

Worth County’s boys won the Class 1 District 8 championship held on their home field, edging out Mound City and Rock Port. Worth County had 108 points, Mound City 99, Rock Port 84, Stanberry 62, East Atchison 51, St. Joseph Christian 51, King City 42, Pattonsburg 29, North Andrew 29, DeKalb 27.5, NEN 27, Albany 26, Platte Valley 24, South Holt 21, Nodaway Valley 12, OSHS 11, North Nodaway 10.5, Winston 9, Craig 8, and Union Star 1. The top four in each event qualified for Sectionals. The top four in those events qualify for state.

Cole Ruby was fifth in the 100 with a time of 11.98. Lucas Frisch won the 110 Hurdles with a time of 15.71. Mason Hiatt got a personal best and qualified with a fourth place finish of 17.85. Lucas Frisch was second in the 300 Hurdles with a time of 43.67. Brock Healy qualified with a fourth place finish, getting a personal best of 45.19.

The 4x100 team of Andrew Griffin, Bo Collins, Cole Ruby, and Lucas Frisch won with a personal best time of 45.12. The 4x200 team of Brayden Combs, Wyatt Hill, Dylan Smith, and Jordan Dannar won with a personal best time of 1:34.96.

Bo Collins qualified in the Shot Put with a third place finish of 13.37 meters. Bo Collins won the Discus with a personal best throw of 43.27 meters. Wyatt Hill was sixth in the Javelin with a throw of 34.06 meters. Owyn Wuillay got a personal best with a throw of 32.08 meters.

Andrew Griffin tied for second in the High Jump with a height of 1.80 meters. Wyatt Hill was second in the Pole Vault with a personal best height of 3.35 meters. Brayden Combs was third, also with a height of 3.35 meters. Jordan Dannar was fourth in the Long Jump, qualifying with a jump of 5.84 meters. Dylan Smith was fifth in the Triple Jump with a jump of 11.92 meters.

For the girls, Rock Port had 136, Mound City 103, St. Joseph Christian 98, Stanberry 85, Albany 59, East Atchison 37, Worth County 34, Pattonsburg 33, DeKalb 27, South Holt 25, Platte Valley 24, Union Star 19, NEN 14, Osborn 12, North Andrew 11, King City 10, North Nodaway 1, and Winston 1.

Keira Hardy won the 100 with a personal best time of 13.33. Hardy was fifth in the 200 with a personal best time of 27.92.

The 4x100 team of Keira Hardy, Audrey Runde, Kristen Tracy, and Megan Tracy was third with a personal best time of 52.58. Audrey Runde was third in the Discus with a throw of 30.64 meters. Audrey Runde was fifth in the Javelin with a throw of 30.79 meters. Kristen Tracy got a personal best with a throw of 25.58 meters. Megan Tracy was fifth in the Long Jump with a personal best jump of 4.82 meters.

 

Junior High Tiger Teams Sweep GRC West; Girls Finish Undefeated

Worth County’s junior high teams went out on top with the girls finishing undefeated, winning every meet they entered in. The boys also won.

For the girls, Worth County had 141 points. Stanberry had 98, St. Joseph Christian 59, North Andrew 45, Albany 41, Princeton 33, King City 28, Pattonsburg 14, and North Harrison 5.

Brooklyn Smith was third in the 100 with a time of 14.29. Brooklyn was second in the 200 with a time of 29.34. Renae Gladstone was third with a time of 30.85. Kaydence Downing was third in the 400 with a personal best time of 1:09.21. Hadley Rush was third in the 800 with a personal best time of 2:49.98. Kinley Fletchall was fifth with a personal best time of 2:55.33. Kaeslyn Briner was sixth in the 1600 with a time of 6:54.77. Zoey Briner got a personal best with a time of 7:58.63. Renae Gladstone won the 100 Hurdles with a time of 18.53. Jolee Hauber was second with a time of 19.14.

The 4x100 team of Kaydence Downing, Kinley Fletchall, Hadley Rush, and Brooklyn Smith won with a personal best time of 55.59. The 4x200 team of Kaydence Downing, Kinley Fletchall, Hadley Rush, and Renae Gladstone won with a personal best time of 1:59.08. The 4x400 also got a personal best, finishing fifth with a time of 5:24.18.

Jane Hawk saved her best for last, breaking the 10-meter barrier and winning the Shot Put with a throw of 10 meters. Catelynn Moyer was sixth with a throw of 8.98 meters. Gabbey Maudlin won the Discus with a personal best throw of 29.77 meters. Jane Hawk was fifth with a throw of 22.32 meters.

Kinley Fletchall was second in the High Jump with a jump of 1.35 meters. Renae Gladstone won the Pole Vault with a personal best height of 2.21 meters. Kylie Combs was third with a height of 1.98 meters.

Brooklyn Smith won the Long Jump with a jump of 4.69 meters. Kaydence Downing was sixth with a personal best leap of 4.14 meters. Hadley Rush was second in the Triple Jump with a jump of 9.08 meters.

For the boys, Worth County had 104, King City 77, St. Joseph Christian 62, Princeton 50, Albany 47, Stanberry 47, North Harrison 46, and North Andrew 32.

Cole Hardy won the 100 with a time of 12.47. Luca Sagel got a personal best in the 200 with a time of 34.87. Cole Hardy was second in the 400 with a personal best time of 56.63. David Wideman got a personal best in the 800 with a time of 2:47.66. Max Hiatt won the 100 Hurdles with a time of 16.87. Silas Brown was second with a time of 18.11.

The 4x100 relay team of Max Hiatt, Gunnar Smith, Jarrett Gilland, and Silas Brown was second. They were without one of their best runners in Hudson Cameron, but they still finished with their best time of the year at 51.67. The 4x200 team of Max Hiatt, Gunnar Smith, Jarrett Gilland, and Silas Brown won with a time of 1:46.86, also a personal best.

Gunnar Smith was second in the Shot Put with a personal best throw of 11.35 meters. Weston Hill was third with a personal best throw of 10.71 meters. Jakob Herbert was fourth in the Discus with a personal best throw of 31.10 meters.

 Jarrett Gilland was fifth in the High Jump with a height of 1.45 meters. Jarrett Gilland and Max Hiatt were tied for second in the Pole Vault with heights of 2.44 meters. Silas Brown won the Triple Jump with a jump of 10.80 meters. Jace Mullock was third with a jump of 9.43 meters.

 

Lucas Frisch, Brayden Combs, Andrew Griffin Lead Tiger Boys to GRC West Title

Lucas Frisch won twice in the GRC West Track Meet Tuesday, May 5th, Andrew Griffin got a personal best and won in the High Jump, and Brayden Combs won in the Pole Vault to hand Worth County a GRC West title. The Tigers scored a season-high 134 points in the event.

Worth County had 134 points, Princeton 102.5, Stanberry 84, North Harrison 60, St. Joseph Christian 51, King City 45, North Andrew 44, Albany 42, and Pattonsburg 20.5.

Cole Ruby was third in the 100 with a time of 12.00. Jordan Dannar got a personal best with a time of 12.23 and a fourth place finish. Hayden Sanders got a personal best in the 400 with a time of 1:00.65. Lucas Frisch won the 110 Hurdles with a time of 15.74. Mason Hiatt was third with a time of 18.07. Frisch won the 300 Hurdles with a time of 42.79. Brock Healy was third with a personal best time of 46.02.

The 4x100 team of Andrew Griffin, Bo Collins, Jordan Dannar, and Lucas Frisch won with a personal best time of 45.21, almost two seconds ahead of their nearest competitor. The 4x200 team of Brayden Combs, Wyatt Hill, Dylan Smith, and Cole Ruby was third with a personal best time of 1:38.29.

Bo Collins was second in the Shot Put with a throw of 13.20 meters. Lucas Frisch was third with a throw of 11.63 meters. Bo Collins was second in the Discus with a personal best throw of 42.20 meters. Ethan Lininger was sixth with a throw of 35.50 meters. Wyatt Hill was second in the Javelin with a throw of 37.25 meters. Owyn Wuillay got a personal best with a throw of 31.46 meters.

Andrew Griffin won the High Jump with a personal best height of 1.90 meters. Brayden Combs won the Pole Vault with a height of 3.35 meters. Wyatt Hill was fourth with a height of 3.20 meters. Jordan Dannar was fourth in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.92 meters. Dylan Smith was fifth with a jump of 5.49 meters. Dylan Smith was second in the Triple Jump with a jump of 12.48 meters. Brock Healy was third with a jump of 11.48 meters.

For the girls, St. Joseph Christian had 152, Stanberry 116, Princeton 86, Albany 77, North Harrison 28, Worth County 28, Pattonsburg 21, North Andrew 20, and King City 19.

Keira Hardy was fourth in the 100 with a time of 13.91. She was fifth in the 200 with a time of 28.76.

The 4x100 relay team of Keira Hardy, Audrey Runde, Kristen Tracy, and Megan Tracy was fourth with a personal best time of 53.82. Audrey Runde was second in the Discus with a throw of 30.59 meters. Kristen Tracy got a personal best with a throw of 24.65 meters. Audrey Runde was fifth in the Javelin with a throw of 29.95 meters. Megan Tracy was second in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.61 meters.

 

Brooklyn Smith Wins Three Times for Girls, Cole Hardy Wins Three Times for Boys as Junior High Tiger Teams Sweep Home Meet

Brooklyn Smith won three times for Worth County’s girls while Cole Hardy won three times for the boys Thursday at the Junior High Tiger Relays as the Tigers swept both events.

For the girls, Worth County had 120, Stanberry 65, NEN 52, South Harrison 45.5, Rock Port 36, St. Gregory’s 25, Platte Valley 21, Albany 20, St. Joseph Christian 19, King City 18, Nodaway Valley 16, East Atchison 15, North Nodaway 6, Pattonsburg 6, and North Harrison 0.5.

Brooklyn Smith won the 100 with a personal best time of 13.52. Hadley Rush got a personal best with a time of 14.57. Kyah Joslin got a personal best with a time of 15.53. Zoey Briner got a personal best with a time of 17.62.

Brooklyn Smith won the 200 with a personal best time of 29.07. Renae Gladstone was fifth with a time of 29.63, also a personal best. Daden Findley got a personal best with a time of 33.70.

Kaydence Downing was sixth in the 400 with a time of 1:09.78. Kyah Joslin got a personal best with a time of 1:15.31. Daden Findley got a personal best with a time of 1:20.05.

Briella Benson got a personal best in the 800 with a time of 3:28.30. Zoey Briner got a personal best in the 1600 with a time of 8:28.95.

Renae Gladstone was third in the 100 Hurdles with a personal best time of 18.49. Jolee Hauber was fourth with a personal best time of 18.60. Karleigh Guinn got a personal best time of 19.76. Briella Benson got a personal best time of 24.75.

The 4x100 team of Kaydence Downing, Brecklyn Rush, Kinley Fletchall, and Brooklyn Smith was neck and neck with South Harrison all the way. Finally, on the last leg, Brooklyn Smith broke away and got the win as the team got a personal best time of 56.38.

The 4x200 team of Kaydence Downing, Brecklyn Rush, Kinley Fletchall, and Renae Gladstone was second with a time of 2:00.13, also a personal best.

Jane Hawk was second in the Shot Put with a personal best throw of 9.90 meters. Catelynn Moyer was sixth with a throw of 9.11 meters. Keylee Smith got a personal best with a throw of 8.22 meters.

Gabbey Maudlin won the Discus with a personal best throw of 27.98 meters. Keylee Smith got a personal best with a throw of 23.70 meters. Jane Hawk was third with a throw of 23.35.

Kinley Fletchall was third in the High Jump with a jump of 1.40 meters. Brecklyn Rush was fourth, also with a time of 1.40 meters.

Renae Gladstone won the Pole Vault with a height of 2.13 meters. Hadley Rush was fifth with a height of 1.83 meters. Kylie Combs got a personal best with a height of 2.13 meters.

Brooklyn Smith nearly got a fourth win but came up just short in the Long Jump, finishing second with a jump of 4.50 meters. Kaydence Downing was third with a personal best jump of 4.12 meters. Kylie Combs got a personal best with a jump of 3.95 meters. Daden Findley got a personal best with a jump of 3.36 meters. Maebry Escobar got a personal best with a jump of 1.92 meters.

Brecklyn Rush was third in the Triple Jump with a personal best jump of 8.87 meters. Hadley Rush was fourth with a jump of 8.74 meters. Zoey Briner got a personal best with a jump of 6.07 meters.

For the boys, Worth County had 98, King City 63, St. Joseph Christian 45, Maysville 40, Stanberry 35, St. Gregory’s 34, Platte Valley 33, Albany 29, North Nodaway 23, Rock Port 19, North Harrison 14, NEN 13, South Harrison 12, Nodaway Valley 6, and East Atchison 1.

Cole Hardy won the 100 with a time of 11.97. Gunnar Smith got a personal best with a time of 13.92. Cole Hardy won the 200 with a time of 24.85. Luca Sagel got a personal best with a time of 35.43. Cole Hardy on the 400 with a time of 58.13.

Max Hiatt ran away with the 100 Hurdles with a time of 15.94, a personal best. Silas Brown was second with a personal best time of 17.29. Jace Mullock got a personal best of 19.42.

The 4x100 team of Max Hiatt, Gunnar Smith, Jarrett Gilland, and Silas Brown was second with a time of 52.77. The 4x200 race featured Max Hiatt, Gunnar Smith, Jarrett Gilland, and Silas Brown. Jarrett Gilland ran the third leg and got the Tigers into the lead, which they would not relinquish over King City as they got a personal best time of 1:48.04.

Gunnar Smith was fourth in the Shot Put with a personal best throw of 10.95. Jakob Herbert got a personal best in the Discus with a throw of 29.08 meters. Jace Mullock got a personal best in the High Jump with a height of 1.40 meters. Jarrett Gilland was second in the Pole Vault with a height of 2.49 meters. Max Hiatt was third in the Pole Vault, also with a height of 2.49 meters, a personal best.

Memphis Ware got a personal best in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.19 meters.

Silas Brown won the Triple Jump with a jump of 11.07 meters. Jace Mullock was fourth with a personal best of 9.66 meters.

 

Tiger Boys Win at Mound City; Keira Hardy Wins for Girls

Worth County’s boys won at the Mound City track meet Friday, beating out a team that had beaten them before in Mound City while Keira Hardy got the first victory of the season for the girls, who shot up the charts to fifth.

For the boys, Worth County had 130 team points. Stanberry had 101, Mound City 95, East Atchison 71, South Holt 50.33, Rock Port 47, King City 39, Craig 34, DeKalb 29, OSHS 29.33, Nodaway Valley 21.33, NEN 21, Platte Valley 18, Tri-County 15, Winston 13, and North Nodaway 2.

For the girls, Rock Port had 169, Mound City 132.5, Stanberry 126.5, East Atchison 77, Worth County 45, NEN 35, South Holt 35, DeKalb 29, King City 28, Platte Valley 22, OSHS 8, Winston 7, and Nodaway Valley 1.

For the boys, Cole Ruby was seventh in the 100 with a time of 11.89. Hayden Sanders was seventh in the 200 with a personal best time of 26.46. Lucas Frisch won the 110 Hurdles with a time of 15.78. Mason Hiatt is shooting up the leaderboard in the hurdles, getting third with a time of 18.03. Lucas Frisch won the 300 Hurdles with a time of 45.75. Mason Hiatt was right behind him in second with a time of 46.81.

The 4x100 team was shorthanded without Jordan Dannar (hip pointer), but the team recently got Cole Ruby back and put him in. The team of Andrew Griffin, Bo Collins, Cole Ruby, and Lucas Frisch won with a time of 46.79. The 4x200 team of Brayden Combs, Wyatt Hill, Dylan Smith, and Bo Collins was fourth with a time of 1:40.90.

Bo Collins won the Shot Put with a throw of 13.43 meters. Lucas Frisch was third with a throw of 12.08 meters. Bo Collins was second in the Discus with a throw of 39.73 meters. Ethan Lininger was sixth with a throw of 33.93 meters. Wyatt Hill was second in the Javelin with a throw of 37.70 meters. Owyn Wuillay was seventh with a personal best throw of 30.44 meters.

Andrew Griffin was tied for first in the High Jump with a height of 1.85 meters. Mason Hiatt was seventh with a height of 1.60 meters. Brayden Combs was second in the Pole Vault with a height of 3.51 meters. Wyatt Hill was fourth with a personal best height of 3.20 meters.

Dylan Smith showed that his run up the leaderboards in the Long Jump was no accident as he won it again with a jump of 5.75 meters. Dylan Smith was third in the Triple Jump with a jump of 11.65 meters.

The girls got their first event victory all year as Keira Hardy won the 100 with a time of 13.56. Rayleigh Smith was eighth with a time of 14.62. Keira Hardy was third in the 200 with a time of 29.06.

The 4x100 also got a win as the team of Keira Hardy, Audrey Runde, Kristen Tracy, and Megan Tracy got a time of 54.38. The 4x200 team of Keira Hardy, Kristen Tracy, Audrey Runde, and Megan Tracy was fourth with a time of 1:57.02.

Audrey Runde was fifth in the Discus with a throw of 27.29 meters. Kristen Tracy was eighth with a throw of 24.49 meters. Megan Tracy was second in the Long Jump with a personal best distance of 4.74 meters.

 

 

 

Dylan Smith Wins Long Jump as Tiger Boys Finish Strong Second at Tarkio

Dylan Smith won the Long Jump Friday as the Worth County boys finished a strong second behind Mound City. Mound City had 112 points. Worth County had 96, East Atchison 93, Platte Valley 52, Albany 42, North Andrew 39, South Holt 39, Rock Port 36, Craig 30, North Nodaway 19, and Nodaway Valley 13.

Dylan got a personal best in the Long Jump with a leap of 5.97 meters, nearly breaking the six meter barrier.

In other boys results, the Tigers got Cole Ruby back, and he ran in the 100, taking second with a personal best of 11.65. Andrew Griffin was eighth with a personal best time of 12.20. Lucas Frisch was second in the 110 Hurdles with a time of 16.38. Mason Hiatt was fifth with a personal best of 18.23. Lucas Frisch won the 300 Hurdles with a season best time of 41.47. Brock Healy was third with a personal best time of 46.54.

The 4x200 relay team of Brayden Combs, Wyatt Hill, Dylan Smith, and Jordan Dannar was second with a time of 1:40.63.

Bo Collins was third in the Shot Put with a throw of 13.02 meters. Bo Collins was fourth in the Discus with a throw of 38.03 meters. Ethan Lininger was fifth with a personal best throw of 35.58 meters. Wyatt Hill was fifth in the Javelin with a throw of 37.43. meters.

In addition to his win in the Long Jump, Dylan Smith was third in the Triple Jump with a distance of 11.74 meters. Brock Healy was fifth with a distance of 11.33 meters.

For the girls, Rock Port ran away with the meet with 165 points. Mound City had 119, East Atchison 78, Albany 76, South Holt 43, Worth County 32, Platte Valley 29, North Andrew 17, and North Nodaway 3.

Keira Hardy was fourth in the 100 with a personal best time of 13.36. Keira was second in the 200 with a time of 28.47.

The 4x100 team of Keira Hardy, Audrey Runde, Kristen Tracy, and Megan Tracy was second with a personal best time of 54.08.

Audrey Runde was fourth in the Discus with a personal best throw of 30.88 meters. Megan Tracy was second in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.60 meters.
