Allendale Pitches In for Basketball Court

A new basketball court is being constructed in Allendale to replace the old one that was replaced by the gazebo. It is on the north side of the shelter house. The pole and the gravel and concrete have been poured in and they are waiting on warmer weather to put up the goal. The Allendale Park Board and the Allendale Breakfast Club and the City of Allendale paid for the project; the city council voted to pay for the gravel and the paint at the city council meeting Monday.

There was $14,206.05 in the General Revenue Fund and $1,507.52 in the sewer fund plus several thousand dollars worth of CD's. That was helped this month by $1,000 worth of sewer payments. Policy on late payments was discussed; customers who do not pay their sewer bills by the 21st of each month are disconnected under city policy.

Following putting up the goal, the next task will be to rake and to put in the grass seed. Kevin Harding will come with a loader and paint the pole.

Volunteers will move the picnic tables at the Rodeo Grounds so that it can be mowed this summer.

Bill Calhoon reported that there would be new requirements for the water testing requirements. He will have to test a sample coming into the system and one coming out of the system. The tests will be for grease, ammmonias, and solids and the state will be looking for if there are more such samples coming out of the system than coming in.

The next meeting will be on May 9th at 7:00 at the Community Building.
