Glendola Faye (Fletchall) McGrew, age 74, formerly of Grant City, Missouri died April 20, 2011 in Creston, Iowa at the Greater Regional Care Home Care Center.
On June 13, 1936 Glendola was born to Ray and Opal Fletchall of Grant City. They preceded her in death. Glendola attended first, second and third grades of school at Jones East school which was located between Allendale and Grant City. At this time she lived with her family on a farm. Before fourth grade the family moved to Grant City where she continued her schooling. Glendola attended the next nine years at Worth County School – District R-1 and graduated on May 13, 1954.
Glendola was baptized into First Baptist Church of Grant City on June 4, 1953. On August 31, 1956 she was married to Robert Lee McGrew of Stanberry, Mo. Three children were born into this marriage. One daughter: Linda Jo (McGrew) Waugh and two sons: Curtis Ray and Stephen Robert McGrew survive.
Other survivors are; two grandchildren Jan Marie Wright and Randy Lee Lear. Great-grandson: Alexander Braydan Wright. This is Jan’s son; a daughter-in-law: Kathy McGrew; three step grandchildren: Kendall, Kaitlyn and Kyle Kobbe. Kaitlyns’ last name in now Frisch and she has three sons: Two step sons: Kamdon and Lucas and one son of her own, Bently; a son-in-law Gene Waugh who has one daughter: Dana Waugh Churchill, which is my step granddaughter; one brother: Don Fletchall and his wife Sharon; two sisters: Annette Jones and Twila Hightshoe, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Glendola worked 16 ½ years at Old American Insurance between direct mail located in Albany, Missouri and home office in Kansas City, Missouri. She also worked several years at Coast to Coast Hardware and Menorah Medical Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. Her last 8 ½ years of working were at Eveready Battery in Maryville, Mo. She retired on June 1, 1998 and has lived in Creston, Ia since March 1, 2000.
She enjoyed and spent many hours cross-stitching pictures. She had quite a few pictures cross-stitched, framed and sent throughout several states. She loved life and liked to stay busy. The highlight of her life were her children and grandchildren as well as a great-grandson, Alexander Braydon. Even though she didn’t attend church often, she did believe in God, the Bible and prayer.

Graveside services and Interment were held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, April 22, 2011 at the Fletchall Cemetery near Grant City, Missouri. Pastor Brent Baxley officiated. Arrangements were under the direction of the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City.
