Post Offices to Remain Open During a Shutdown

The Post Office will remain open for business as usual during any government shutdown. A shutdown was narrowly averted Friday as Congressional leaders and the President reached a deal with one hour to spare. However, the Post Office is not a taxpayer funded entity, which means that their operation would not be affected by a shutdown. They have not been taxpayer funded since 1970, when the Postal Reorganization Act was passed.
