Obituary: Jubal Hunt 1920-2011

Jubal Ralph Hunt was born October 30, 1920 in Worth County, Missouri to John C. and Ethel (Waugh) Hunt. He died April 8, 2011 at the Worth County Convalescent Center in Grant City Missouri.

Jubal attended 1st through 8th grade at the Hunt School. Later as an adult he obtained his GED.

Jubal spent most of his life in Worth County with the exception of his years in the United States Navy during World War II from 1942-1946. On October 10, 1942, he married Opal Hensley in New Orleans. He was a farmer. His farm was designated a century farm in 2010. He was county director of the Worth County ASCS for several years.

He was very active in many organizations over the years. He was a charter member of the V.F.W. Post #3123 and Lions Club, member of the American Legion Post #92 and the Grant City Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife Opal of Grant City, Missouri; Children: Carol Ann Kerwin and husband James of Grant City; Roberta (Bobbi Jo) Bainum and husband Michael of Redding, Iowa, John Hunt and wife Joyce of Coralville, Iowa, Daniel Hunt of Grant City, Timothy Hunt and wife Cynthia of New Hampton, Missouri, Lisa Hargrave and husband John of Grant City, Lena Kay Hunt, of Grant City; 35 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded by his parents; two sons: Dennis and James Hunt; two brothers: Sanford and Jerry Hunt; one sister; Sylvia Waugh; and one grandson.

Jubal will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.

Memorial Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Grant City Baptist Church with visitation one hour prior to service. Pastor Brent Baxley will officiate. The body has been donated to Medical Research. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Redding, Iowa Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City.
