Blair Schmitz was recently awarded Second Team All State Honors for the second year in a row (See article in print edition, page 3). With her selection, she added to the list of honors that she has gotten this year. Emily Bryant was one of the leaders in steals this year and got to where she could light it up from downtown, getting a season high 18 points against Tarkio. Kristin Sherry was one of the leading rebounders on the team. Moved to the post this year because of Northeast's lack of height, she stepped right in to fill the position, always ready to score when needed. She netted a career high of 22 points against Nodaway-Holt to lead her team to a win when teammate Michelle Schulte was gone with the flu. Together with fellow senior Taylor Dougan, these girls helped their team achieve at least 21 wins in each of the last three years and 70 wins total. They only lost two games on their home court during that stretch.
Ryan Davis coached the Bluejays during the first two years of that stretch while Eric Fairchild stepped in and coached the Bluejays to 23 wins this year despite the team having some big shoes to fill with the departure of both coach Ryan Davis, now coaching at Lexington, and standout guard Jacqueline Schulte, now playing for Southwest Baptist in the MIAA.
