Several Tigers Move On in Home District Meet

The Worth County girls were seventh and the boys fifth as the Tigers qualified several people in the district track meet at Worth County Saturday despite a loaded field.

Audrey Runde was fourth in the Javelin with a personal best 30.35 meters, aided by a slight breeze at her back. The top four finishers in each event qualify to sectionals. Runde was also eighth in the Discus with a throw of 26.07 meters.

Riley Ridge qualified in the High Jump, finishing third with a height of 1.50 meters.

Eva Engel won the Pole Vault with a height of 3.35 meters. She nearly cleared the next height as well, coming close all three times. She would have come close to placing in the boys side as well.

Audrey Runde got her third medal in the 100 Hurdles, where she finished eighth with a time of 21.20.

With a loaded field and rising temperatures, the speed relay team of Keira Hardy, Eva Engel, Rayleigh Smith, and Emma Spencer decided to forego the 4x200 and throw all their eggs in one basket, in the 4x100. It worked as they were third with a time of 52.87, qualifying them for the next round. There was .14 of a second separating the top three as Albany won with a time of 52.73 and St. Joseph Christian was second with a time of 52.83. Stanberry finished right behind Worth County in fourth with a time of 53.21.

Emma Spencer was second in the 200 with a time of 26.94. Keira Hardy was seventh with a time of 29.35.
