The Worth County School Board, at its regular meeting Wednesday, rehired Janice Borey as Girls Track coach, named Anna Gladstone as her assistant, and named April Healy as Junior High Girls track coach. Anna has started giving back to her school, being a fixture around the track at home track meets and officiating the high jump.
The board renewed the agreement with the ACES cooperative at a cost of $33,222.61 for ACES fees and $17,500 for social worker fees. ACES provides diagnostic and related services to the school district.
The board set school breakfast and lunch prices for the upcoming school year. For breakfast, elementary prices will be $2, high school will be $2.20, adult will be $2.50, and reduced price meals will be 30 cents. For lunch, elementary prices will be $2.75, high school will be $3.05, adult will be $3.90, and reduced price meals will be 40 cents.
The board approved the payment of $500 for those teachers completing a volume of LETRS training, applied to their May paycheck.
High School Principal Josh Smith reported the attendance challenge winners for the entire school year. The winners were the sophomores with a rate of 95.89%. The second place finishers were the seventh grade with 94.93%. The third place finishers were the seniors with a 94.08% attendance rate.
Smith also shared honor rolls. There were 44 students on the high honor roll and 32 on the regular honor roll.
The board thanked outgoing Principal Chuck Borey for his 32 years of service to the school district.
The board amended the 2025-26 calendar. The state now incentivizes schools that attend 169 calendar days. A half-day was added for March 12th and April 2nd and parent/teacher conferences were moved to March 12th. There are 37 inclement weather hours built into the calendar.
The board approved participation in the Missouri Career Advising Initiative to hire a designated college/career advisor to work with the school and counselor to help with college and career readiness.
The next board meeting will be June 18th at 7:30 am.
