The Trenton Police Department reported that at on Saturday at 11:20 pm in Trenton, officers were dispatched to Ellison Street for a report of a gunshot and a man with a gun. The officers discovered David Willey (46) of Trenton with a gunshot wound. He died of his wounds.
Subsequently, the Iowa State Highway Patrol arrested Chad Kelly (45) of Excelsior Springs (MO), who the Trenton PD identified as a suspect. KTTN reported that Kelly subsequently died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Trenton Police Department was assisted by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Grundy County Ambulance Service, Trenton Fire Department, Grundy County Coroner, Buchannan County Sheriff’s Office, and Knight & Day Recovery.
