Jordan Dannar, Brock Healy Win Twice as Junior High Tiger Boys are GRC West Champs; Other Tiger Teams Finish High

The Worth County Junior High boys are the GRC West Champs as they ran away with the conference meet Tuesday, May 6th. The junior high girls came tantalizingly close to Stanberry after finishing behind them all year and finished ahead of Princeton, who they had trailed all year. The varsity boys finished in a three-way tie for second, while the varsity girls were fourth.

For the junior high boys, Worth County ran away with it with 124 points. North Andrew had 74, Princeton 65, Stanberry 60, Albany 59, King City 37, Pattonsburg 24, St. Joseph Christian 11, and North Harrison 10.

Jordan Dannar was second in the 100 with a time of 12.83. Dannar had been right up there in the 200 all year and finally got over the top with a time of 26.05. Dannar was second in the 400 with a time of 57.39. The Tigers were 1-2 in the 100 Hurdles with both Brock Healy and Mason Hiatt saving their best for last. Healy won with a time of 16.65 while Mason Hiatt was second with a time of 17.29. 

The relay teams all finished high with the 4x100 winning with a time of 51.76, the 4x200 finishing second with a time of 1:50.30, and the 4x400 winning with a time of 4:19.14.

The Tigers placed two in the Pole Vault with Brock Healy finishing second with a height of 2.74 meters and Max Hiatt sixth with a height of 1.98 meters. Jordan Dannar got his second win of the afternoon in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.57 meters. Cole Hardy was sixth with a jump of 4.50 meters. The Tigers were 1-2 in the Triple Jump as Brock Healy won with a jump of 10.53 meters while Silas Brown showed his recent improvement was no accident as he was right behind with a jump of 10.05. Owyn Wuillay won the Discus with a throw of 35.46 meters while Brock Healy was fourth with a throw of 29.86.

The junior high girls saw Stanberry winning with 97.5, following by Worth County with 96. Princeton had 89, followed by St. Joseph Christian with 63, King City 57, Albany 33.5, North Andrew 22, and Pattonsburg 6.

Brianna Riley was fifth in the 100 with a time of 14.38. She was second in the 200 with a time of 29.42. Kaydence Downing shot up the leaderboard with a second place finish in the 400 with a time of 1:09.45. Hadley Rush was third in the 800 with a time of 2:47.92. Brianna Riley won her specialty event, the 100 Hurdles, with a time of 17.74. 

The 4x100 was fourth with a time of 57.68. The 4x200 was fourth with a time of 2:05.24. The 4x400 was third with a time of 5:00.16. 

Brecklyn Rush was fourth in the High Jump with a height of 1.35 meters. Hadley Rush shot up the leaderboards in the Pole Vault, finishing third with a height of 1.98 meters. Renae Gladstone was tied for fourth with a height of 1.83. Brianna Riley was fifth in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.01 meters. 

The throwing events helped fuel the Tigers' resurgence up the leaderboards late in the season. They were 1-2 in the Triple Jump with Hadley Rush winning with a jump of 8.66 meters. Kennedy Murphy was second with a jump of 8.51. Jane Hawk was third in the Shot Put with a throw of 9.25 meters, while Haley Russell placed for the first time all year with a fifth place throw of 8.05 meters. Jane Hawk was third in the Discus with a throw of 23.80 meters, while Gabbey Maudlin placed for the first time all year with a fourth place throw of 23.69.

For the varsity girls, Stanberry had 121, St. Joseph Christian 99, Albany 85, Worth County 81, Princeton 41, North Harrison 32, King City 32, and Pattonsburg 24. 

After finishing just out of first all year, Emma Spencer finally won the 100 with a time of 13.53 seconds, beating out Keylee Siddens (Albany) by one hundredth of a second. Keira Hardy was sixth with a time of 14.15. Emma Spencer had much less competition in the 200, which she won with a time of 27.28. Keira Hardy was sixth with a time of 29.83. JoLynn Hawk was fourth in the 1600 with a time of 8:58.96. Audrey Runde was third in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 20.21.

The 4x100 was third with a time of 53.81. The 4x200 was fourth with a time of 1:57.36.

Riley Ridge pushed Annabelle Gardner (Pattonsburg) in the High Jump before finishing second with a jump of 1.55 meters. Eva Engel won the Pole Vault with a height of 3.55 meters, which would have given her the win in the boys event as well. Megan Tracy shot up the leaderboard with a third place finish of 2.29. Tracy was sixth in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.27 meters. Audrey Runde shot up the leaderboards in the throwing events, getting second in the Discus with a throw of 26.27 meters and third in the Javelin with a throw of 28.50. 

For the varsity boys, Princeton had 120, Albany, Worth County, and Stanberry had 87, North Harrison had 62.50, King City 38, St. Joseph Christian 35.50, North Andrew 26, and Pattonsburg 26. 

Cole Ruby broke into the standings in the 100 with a sixth-place finish of 12.82 seconds. Lucas Frisch won the 110 Hurdles with a time of 16.22 and dramatically improved his time in the 300 Hurdles, winning it with a time of 40.35 seconds. The 4x100 team was fourth with a time of 48.49. The 4x200 was third with a time of 1:45.75. The 4x400 was fourth with a time of 4:09.87. 

Andrew Griffin came tantalizingly close in the High Jump, being edged out on tiebreaks by Kash Holt (Princeton); both had a height of 1.85 meters. Brayden Combs was second in the Pole Vault with a height of 3.35 meters. Lucas Frisch was second in the Triple Jump with a jump of 12.12 meters. Frisch got his third win in the Shot Put with a throw of 12.84 meters. Ethan Lininger was fourth in the Discus with a throw of 33.90 meters. The javelin contingent continued to move up the ladder with Sawyer Thurman getting second with a throw of 39.82 and Wyatt Hill getting third with a throw of 35.29 meters.
