A near wreck and a vandalism occurred at the Hopkins Ballpark recently.
On Friday, at around 5:30 am, two vehicles were traveling on 148 near the ballpark, one northbound and one southbound. The northbound vehicle swerved to avoid construction cones, nearly striking the southbound vehicle. The Nodaway County Sheriff’s Department came and removed the cones from the road.
In the second incident, during recent rains, people were using the ballpark parking lot as a mud pit, tearing it up and creating ruts.
