Alva "Wayne" Brooke, age 86, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Known for his quiet strength, generous spirit, and unwavering devotion to family, Wayne lived a life marked by integrity and kindness.
Born in Stanberry, Missouri, Wayne graduated from Stanberry
High School in 1957 and soon after joined the United States Air Force, where he
served as an aircraft control warning radar operator. His exemplary conduct
earned him the Good Conduct Medal, awarded for his honor, efficiency, and
fidelity—values that continued to define him throughout his life.
On July 8, 1962, Wayne married the love of his life, Madelyn
Brown. Their 63-year union was a testament to enduring partnership, rooted in
faith, laughter, and deep family ties.
After his military service, Wayne pursued a career in
banking, where his commitment to building genuine connections made a lasting
impression. He strived to know every customer's first name who walked through
the doors of his loan department, treating each person with respect and care as
he guided them through some of life’s most important decisions.
Wayne was a proud member of Raytown Christian Church, where
he served faithfully as a deacon and participated in the Disciples Sunday
School Class—finding joy in fellowship and spiritual growth alongside lifelong
friends. He found true happiness at the family farm in Stanberry, where he
loved fishing and hunting and spending time in nature. It was there, surrounded
by family and friends, that Wayne created countless cherished memories—sharing
laughter, stories, and a deep love for the land.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Madelyn
Brooke; sons Roger (Karen) Brooke, Randy Brooke, and David Brooke;
grandchildren Ryan (Jordan) Brooke, Justin Brooke, and Alisha Brooke; and three
great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Steve (Darlene) Brooke,
Phyllis (Mark) Humphrey, and Sheila (Rick) Simmerman, along with many nieces
and nephews. His family will carry forward his legacy of love, humility, and
quiet strength.
He was preceded in death by his parents Kermit and Minnie
Brooke and brothers Robert Lee and Archie "Larry" Brooke. He is also
remembered by their wives, Mary Louis Brooke and Grace Brooke.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Raytown Christian
Church July 26th, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and the service beginning
at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be completed at a later date at Kirk Cemetery in
Allendale, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that
donations be made to Raytown Christian Church or The Kirk Cemetery in
Allendale, Missouri, honoring Wayne’s lifelong commitment to faith, family, and
community.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Susannah
and Kim from Phoenix Home Care and Hospice for their exceptional care,
kindness, and companionship during Wayne’s final days.
Arrangements are under the care of Heartland Cremation and
Burial Society.
