At their regular Board of Education meeting Wednesday, the North Nodaway school board approved a bid from Bryson Allen to put in concrete for a dumpster at the Elementary for $4,600.
Elementary Principal Heather Townsend reported that teachers have been trickling in to start working on their classrooms for the upcoming school year.
All classroom carpets have been cleaned, hardwood floors have been refinished, and some landscaping has been done.
Teachers who are enrolled in LETRS I have gone to their training.
Online registration begins August 4th. In-person registration starts August 12th. New teacher orientation starts August 14th. The Back to School Fair is August 19th. The first day of school is August 20th.
High School Principal Cody Jenkins reported on the progress of summer athletic programs. High school team camp will be from July 22nd through 24th at Hopkins from 6 pm to 8 pm. Junior high football camp will be at Hopkins from 8 am to 10 am July 28th to 31st, and high school football camp will be July 29th to 31st from 8 am to 10:30 am. High school football will travel to Albany August 1st for their team camp.
Seniors will do lemonade and soda for the Hopkins Picnic. Juniors will be doing ice cream and popsicles and a 50/50 raffle. Sophomores will have water games. Freshmen will be selling t-shirts.
Superintendent Chris Turpin reported that the asphalting projects are completed.
The school had an audit of the finances. The board will approve a final copy in December.
The school is working on the Teacher Baseline application, which is due next month.
Bo Hansen and Troy Nally have been working on a commons extension along with a storage room on the third floor.
The school is looking for a refrigerated salad bar to replace the one the school has. The old one is too heavy and cumbersome.
The basketball hoops are nearly finished in the high school gym.
Groundwork has started on updating the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan for the school. The school will turn in a new plan next year.
