Georgia Brand 1936-2025

Georgia LuAnn (McHenry) Brand was born on September 12, 1936, to John & Rubye (Colvin) McHenry. She was born and raised on a farm near Allendale, Missouri, half a mile from the Iowa line. Georgia passed away at her home in Mount Ayr, Iowa on July 19, 2025.

Georgia attended a country school near Allendale, Missouri her elementary grades. She attended Grant City, Missouri High School in her freshman year. After the death of her father, her mother, sister and herself moved from Allendale to Mount Ayr. Her sophomore, junior, and senior years were at Mount Ayr Community School, graduating in 1956.

On February 14, 1961, she was united in marriage to Paul Gerald Brand at the First Baptist Church. To this union, two daughters were born: Christina Lynn and LuAnn Kay.

Georgia had many careers in her lifetime. She was a soil bank clerk at the Ringgold County ASC office; sewing caps at home for the Cap Factory; an Avon lady; babysat many children in her home and she was best known as the Cake Lady.

Georgia enjoyed many hobbies and activities. Some included painting ceramics, sewing, crocheting, crafting with seashells, square dancing, doing activities in Texas (spending 21 winters there) and spending time with her grandchildren.

Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; grandson Joseph Muhlbauer; her parents John & Rubye McHenry; her parents-in-law Lewis & Madge Brand; sisters Naomi McHenry, Ruth Trullinger, and Bonnie Young; in-laws Clyde Trullinger, Don Harvey, Earl Brand, Dean Brand, Clyde & Rosie Brand, Shirley Brand, Lois & Ainslee Triggs, Jean & Lyle Gilliland, Bob Schafer, and Walt Cobb; nephew Brent Priest.

Georgia is survived by daughters Christina (Paul) Muhlbauer and LuAnn Brand; grandchildren Tom & Gabi Muhlbauer, Eric & Amanda Muhlbauer, Rachael & Aaron Boisvert, and Jeff Muhlbauer; great grandchildren Alison, Brandon, and Thomas Muhlbauer; sister Joan Harvey; in-laws Wilma Schafer, Betty Cobb, and Lee Brand; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Memorials are to the Ringgold County Group Home.
