Area Courthouse, Police, and Crime Reports for May 7th, 2025

On April 24th, the Maryville Forum reported that a truck and tractor-trailer ran off the side of Route 71 near Hallmark Road near Maryville in a driving rainstorm and got stuck in a deep ditch. Traffic was diverted for most of the day. The driver was not injured, but 22,000 of the 36,000 pounds of food that it was hauling was lost.

On April 29th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Jeffrey Mathews (46) of Albany alleging Stealing. An affidavit from the Gentry County Sheriff’s Department alleges the defendant stole four bottles of Vodka from Casey’s in Albany.

On April 29th, James Gladstone (21) of Worth was in convicted by a jury in Nodaway County Associate Circuit Court on charges of Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident), DWI, and Minor Visibly Intoxicated and acquitted of another charge of Careless & Imprudent Driving and Leaving the Scene. A hearing on a motion for new trial, any other post-trial motions, and sentencing was set for May 5th. On May 5th, Gladstone was placed on two years probation and fined $600 by Judge Robert Rice.  Defendant may not possess or consume alcoholic beverages, may not enter any bar, successfully complete SATOP and the Midwest Victim Impact Program, complete 24 hours of community service, and successfully complete alcohol education program. The case was moved from Gentry County on a change of venue.

On April 30th, Special Prosecutor Tara Cluck filed charges against Carlos McClain (54) of Independence in Nodaway County alleging Non-Support (Felony). The amount alleged owed as of January 2025 was $16,141.34.

On April 30th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Daryl Smith (45) of King City alleging Harboring a Dangerous Dog. An affidavit from the Gentry County Sheriff’s Department alleges that the dog bit two different people between March and April.

On April 30th, Daviess County Prosecutor Andrea Beth Gibson filed charges against Fabeik Maker (29) of Kansas City alleging Speeding (108 mph) and Driving While Revoked (Felony). Bond was set at $5,000, cash only. On May 2nd, defendant was released on his own recognizance.

On April 30th, Daviess County Prosecutor Andrea Beth Gibson filed charges against Dustin Zumbehl (41) of Albany alleging Stealing (Felony). An affidavit from the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department alleges the defendant stole around $113,016.59 from his employer. Bond was set at $125,000, cash only, later reduced to $50,000 with defendant given leave to post 10% cash.

On May 1st, Judge Ryan Horsman sustained a motion allowing Misty Miller (35) of Chillicothe to withdraw her guilty plea in Livingston County Circuit Court to a charge of Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Felony). A new hearing was set for June 5th.

On May 1st, Judge Matthew Krohn revoked the probation of Michael Rutledge (20) of New Hampton in Harrison County Circuit Court and ordered him to serve 10 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections with credit for 215 days served on a charge of Child Molestation (Felony). The defendant’s probation was revoked following allegations that the defendant refused to provide a urine sample for drug testing as part of his probation.

On May 1st, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Troy Asher (52) of Sheridan alleging Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident). An affidavit from the Missouri State Highway Patrol alleges the defendant attempted to pass two vehicles in a no-passing zone as the lead vehicle was attempting to turn left into a private drive.

On May 1st, Harrison County Prosecutor Michael Wulff filed charges against Jennifer Babbick (36) of Ridgeway alleging Child Abuse (Felony). Bond was set at $50,000, cash only.

On May 1st, Harrison County Prosecutor Michael Wulff filed charges against Justin Parkhurst (43) of Bethany alleging Leaving the Scene. An affidavit from the Bethany Police Department alleges the defendant crashed a vehicle into a light pole, knocking off a street light and causing it to break and come to rest in the roadway, and then left the scene. Bond was set at $25,000, cash only.

On May 2nd, Judge Corey Herron issued a warrant for the arrest of Dacco Muth (20) of Kansas City (KS) in Nodaway County Circuit Court following a probation violation report regarding laws, association,  drugs, and weapons. Bond was denied. The defendant was on probation on a charge of Stealing (Felony).

On May 2nd, Judge Micha Lea Dixon issued a warrant for the arrest of Jayson Herwehe (53) of Trenton in Daviess County Associate Circuit Court following a bond violation report. Bond was denied. The defendant was out on bond for a charge of No Valid License (Felony).

On May 3rd, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Chelsi Riley (25) of Lexington in Daviess County on charges of DWI (Drugs) and Failure to Register.

On May 4th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Matthew Baker (25) of Gallatin in Daviess County on a charge of DWI (Drugs).

On May 5th, Daviess County Prosecutor Andrea Beth Gibson filed charges against David Hogan (26) of Jamesport alleging Enticement of a Minor (Felony). Bond was denied.

On May 5th, Darrell Germann (41) of Conception Jct. failed to appear in Nodaway County Associate Circuit Court on a charge of Non-Support (Felony). A warrant was issued and bond was set at $500, cash only.

On May 5th, Irina Younger (65) of Maryville pleaded guilty in Nodaway County Circuit Court to a charge of DWI. She was placed on two years probation by Judge Corey Herron. Defendant must serve 30 days house arrest with credit for time served, maintain SCRAM device while under house arrest, and apply for the Fourth Circuit DWI Program and successfully complete it if accepted.

On May 5th, Judge Joel Miller granted the dissolution of the marriage of Morgan Gullion (23) of Grant City and Jordan Gullion (28) of Grant City in Worth County Associate Circuit Court. Petitioner’s maiden name of Morgan Beagle was restored.

On May 5th, Wesley Mills (39) of Beatrice (NE) pleaded guilty in Harrison County Associate Circuit Court to a charge of DWI. He was sentenced to 57 days in jail with credit for 57 days served and ordered to pay $417.50 in Law Enforcement Restitution Fund fees and court costs.

Charges listed are merely allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

It’s striking how many of these cases tie back to impaired driving. Reading about the different outcomes makes me wonder how consistent the system really is. I’ve heard that participating in a solid dwi program can make a real difference in preventing repeat issues.
