First Skating Rink Built in 1948 or 1949
Linda Phipps told the Sheridan Express Monday she believed that the first Grant City Skating Rink building was built in 1948 or 1949. She said she could remember going to the depot as a girl of 8 or 9 years old and then walking through the pasture between where the MFA and the Fairgrounds are now. When she reached what was then Highway 169, she had to be very careful to make sure that there were no cars coming, because the speed limit at that time was 70 miles per hour.
