Courthouse News for May 1st, 2019

On April 18, 2019 the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle accident near mile marker 13 on Highway 148. Karen Anderson of Nodaway, Iowa, was southbound on Highway 148 when she struck the rear-end of an anhydrous-ammonia tank being towed by Peve Crop Service. After an investigation, Anderson was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated (second offense). Anderson has since been released on her own recognizance. Both drivers were uninjured.

 Sun Valley Lake Golf Course reported that someone had drove a vehicle onto the golf course and caused damage to 3 greens. This happened at approximately 2:30 a.m. on 4-20-19. Any one with information is encouraged to contact the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office.

On April 23rd, Worth County Prosecutor Janet Wake Larison filed charges against Gregory Carson (21) of Grant City alleging two counts Promotion of Child Pornography (Felony) and six counts Possession of Child Pornography (Felony).

On April 24th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Jay Rasmussen (31) of Bethany alleging Misusing 911.

On April 24th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Jamie Taylor (21) alleging Forgery (Felony). Bond was set at $5,000, with defendant released on his own recognizance.

On April 24th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Jamaal Brazil (22) of Maryville alleging Delivery of Marijuana (Felony), Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Felony), and Forgery (Felony). Bond was set at $20,000, with defendant given leave to post 10% cash.

On April 25th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Wayne Bonde (56) of Bethany alleging Domestic Assault (Felony).

On April 25th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Douglas Smith (51) of Pleasant Hill (MO) alleging No Valid Interstate Fuel License.

On April 25th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Roy Boeger (63) of Clinton (WI) alleging No Valid Interstate Fuel License.

On April 25th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Billie Brice (24) of Winter Haven (FL) alleging No Valid Interstate Fuel License.

On April 25th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Cody Janquesk (27) of Des Moines alleging No Valid Interstate Fuel License.

On April 25th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Spencer Allee (19) of Maryville alleging Possession or Delivery of an Item at a Jail Which Prisoner is Prohibited from Receiving.

On April 25th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Daniel Russell (49) of Excelsior Springs alleging Possession or Delivery of an Item at a Jail Which Prisoner is Prohibited from Receiving.

Adam Sills, 28, of Bedford, was arrested on April 25, 2019 on an active Taylor County Warrant for Failure to Appear - on an original charge of Theft in the Second Degree, and a new charge was filed in conjunction with an active investigation for Forgery. Sills is being held at the Taylor County Jail on $5,000 bond.

 On April 25th, a Clearfield man reported that on the evening of 4-21-19 person(s) unknown stole chain link fencing and a 75-gallon stock tank from along State Highway 25.

On the night of April 25th or the morning of April 26th, a Redding man reported to the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department that someone had slashed one of his pickup tires and poured sugar in his son’s Tahoe gas tank between 10 pm and 2 am. Anyone with information, please contact the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office.

Nicholas Giesken, 37, of Chariton, Iowa, was arrested on April 26, 2019, in the 200 block of Broadway Street in Clearfield on a valid Taylor County Warrant for Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, a Class D Felony. During the arrest Giesken failed to comply with Deputies commands. Deputies used a taser to subdue Giesken. Giesken was charged with Interference with Official Acts, a simple misdemeanor and Possession of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana (1st Offense). During the investigation, Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office K9, Heky, assisted and indicated to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle that Giesken was in control of. Giesken was additionally charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine (3rd or subsequent offense), a Class D Felony. Giesken is being held at the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office on $10,600 bond pending an appearance with the magistrate.

On April 26th, Special Prosecutor David Baird filed charges against Kyle Leslie (26) of Maryville alleging Possession of a Controlled Substance (Felony).

On April 26th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Jeffery Yeary (49) of Maryville alleging Domestic Assault.

On April 26th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Carol Woodsmall (50) of Clarinda alleging Passing a Bad Check.

On April 26th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Cole Johnson (34) of Clarinda alleging three counts Passing a Bad Check.

On April 26th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Kirk Waters (56) of Macksville (KS) alleging No Valid Interstate Fuel License.

On April 26th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Edward Hunt (50) of Des Moines alleging No Valid Interstate License. He pleaded guilty and was fined $57.50 plus court costs.

On April 26th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Luciano Da Re Fustagino (23) of Topeka (KS) alleging Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On April 26th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Sherman Stevens (38) of Stanberry alleging Abuse or Neglect of a Child (Felony). Bond was set at $4,950, cash only, and posted by the defendant.

On April 26th, Worth County Prosecutor Janet Wake Larison filed charges against Austin Myers (65) of Denver alleging Sodomy (Felony), Sexual Trafficking of a Child (Felony), and Kidnapping (Felony). That same day, he was arrested by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and transported to the Ringgold County Jail, where he was being held on bond.

On April 27th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Andrew Pickering (30) of Maryville in Nodaway County on a charge of No Valid License.

On 04-27-19 at approximately 1:00 PM a motorist found a pig on the US Hwy 71 bypass north of Kawasaki and south of South Ave in Maryville. The pig is the size of a feeder pig. If this is your pig or you know who the owner is please call 660-562-3209. One person who posted to the Maryville Department of Public Safety's Facebook Page, Staci Johnson, who worked at the Eagleville Truck Stop once, posted that pigs would frequently escape from the holes when people parked their trucks there, and she would have to go out into the parking lot and get them.

On April 28th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Cody Swinney (29) of Skidmore in Nodaway County on charges of DWI and Failure to Maintain Right Half of Roadway. Swinney was arrested following an accident on Route 46 & Fairway Road near Skidmore at around 5 am that morning, in which the Ford F-150 he was driving traveled off the south side of 46 and into a culvert, where it overturned, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

On April 28th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Clint Lewis (27) of Stanberry alleging Domestic Assault (Felony).

On April 29th, the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department arrested Christopher Miller (28) of Sharpsburg on a Ringgold County Warrant for Assault while Displaying a Deadly Weapon. The incident allegedly occurred that morning in Diagonal.

On April 29th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Christian Rosario-Torres (19) of St. Louis Park (MN) alleging No Insurance.

On April 29th, Worth County Prosecutor Janet Wake Larison filed charges against Kevin Gibbens (43) of Agency alleging No Insurance.

On April 29th, Worth County Prosecutor Janet Wake Larison filed charges against Dustyn Rauch (23) of Blockton alleging No Insurance and No Seat Belt.

On April 29th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Benny Nunez (24) of Maryville alleging No Valid License.

On April 29th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Asaph Ward (23) alleging No Valid License.

On April 29th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Luke Schaberg (22) of Wellington (MO) alleging DWI.

On April 29th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against John Morton (28) of Maryville alleging DWI (Prior).

Charges listed are mere allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
