Junior High Shamrock Girls Win HDC Title; Jayliegh Robins Wins All Four Events; Everybody Medals for Girls

In a banner day for the North Harrison Junior High Girls Wednesday, the Shamrocks won the HDC Conference Title over Gilman City as everybody medalled and Jayliegh Robins won all four of her events. The Varsity Girls were fifth, while the Varsity Boys were fourth and the Junior High Boys were fifth.

In the Junior High Girls division, North Harrison had 115 points. Gilman City had 80, Winston 59, Mercer 56, Tri-County 40, Grundy County 31, East Harrison 7, Newtown-Harris 3, and North Daviess 2.

In the 100, Jayliegh Robins won with a time of 14.45, beating out Skylar Bonnett (Grundy County), who had a time of 14.82. Robins had a much easier time in the 200, where she won by over 1.5 seconds with a time of 29.97. Robins won her specialty event, the 400, with her best time of the year at 1:05.98. That was almost six seconds ahead of her nearest competition.

Robins would have medalled in the varsity events had she ran in them instead. She would have won the 400 by four seconds, been barely edged out and gotten third in the 200, and fifth in the 100.
Halle Morgan was fourth in the 800 with a time of 3:01.70. Morgan also ran the 1600 and finished second with a time of 6:46.92.

In the relays, the 4x100 team of Jaci Davis, Amber Wilson, Trendi Johnson, and Paige Lane was second with a time of 1:08.36. The 4x200 team of Jaci Davis, Paige Lane, Amber Wilson, and Trendi Johnson was fourth with a time of 2:26.36. The 4x400 team of Jaci Davis, Paige Lane, Amber Wilson, and Lily Shovick was second with a time of 6:51.80.

Halle Morgan was second in the Long Jump with a jump of 13 feet. Morgan won the Triple Jump with a jump of 28’11”. Trendi Johnson was third with a jump of 24 feet.

Jayliegh Robins’ closest call was in the Shot Put. She and teammate Lily Shovick both threw 30’4½”. But Robins won out on tiebreaks due to her second best throw being farther. Lily Shovick won the Discus with a throw of 67’8”, while Amber Wilson was sixth with a throw of 49’10”.

The Junior High Boys finished fifth. Gilman City won with 88 points, followed by Newtown-Harris with 87. Grundy County had 65, East Harrison 48, North Harrison 42, North Daviess 36, Winston 23, and Mercer 18.

Tyson Gibson was second in the 100 with a time of 13.69. Gibson won the 200 with a time of 27.98. Keygun Johnson was fifth in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 22.32.

Tyson Gibson got another win in the Long Jump, getting a time of 15’10”. That was 1’8” over his nearest competitor. Gibson got his third first place finish in the Triple Jump, which he won handily with a jump of 32’4”.

Jerry Gilpatrick was fifth in the Discus with a throw of 72’7”.

The Varsity Girls were fifth. Tri-County ran away with the meet, getting 161 points. East Harrison had 95, Winston 92, Grundy County 72, North Harrison 44, Gilman City 26, Mercer 14, Newtown-Harris 11, and North Daviess 6.

Camden Castleberry was third in the 400 with a time of 1:12.18. Castleberry was fourth in the 800 with a time of 3:03.25. Camden got four medals on the day as she was third in the Long Jump with a jump of 13’3½” and fourth in the Triple Jump with a jump of 27’7¾”. Emma Craig was second in the Triple Jump with a jump of 29’4¾”.

Emma Craig was second in the Shot Put with a throw of 32’3”. She was also second in the Discus with a throw of 103’11”.

For the Varsity Boys, Winston ran away with the meet with 215 points. East Harrison had 79, Grundy County 66, North Harrison 62, Mercer 54, Newtown-Harris 24, Tri-County 11, and Gilman City 4.

Ethan Valenti won the 100 with a time of 12.19. Skyler Todd was sixth with a time of 13.07. Valenti was second in the 200 with a time of 25.07. Valenti was fifth in the 400 with a time of 59.39, while Kamden Robertson was sixth with a time of 1:04.03. Kamden Robertson was fifth in the 800 with a time of 2:28.42. The Shamrocks swept the hurdling events as Gavin Garrett won the 110 Hurdles with a time of 18.94. Garrett also won the 300 Hurdles with a time of 46.23.

Ethan Valenti picked up his fourth medal of the day in the High Jump, where he placed sixth with a jump of 4’10”. Kamden Robertson was sixth in the Long Jump with a jump of 14’3”. Gavin Garrett was fourth in the Triple Jump with a jump of 34’1”.

In the throwing events, Skyler Todd was fourth in the Shot Put with a throw of 34’3”. Gavin Garrett was second in the Javelin with a throw of 130’8”.
