Tiger Girls Beat Loaded Field at Tarkio; Boys Second

Worth County’s girls came out on top in a six-way race at the Indian Relays Thursday, in which six different teams got 68 or more points and were bunched within 22 points of each other. On the boys side, Mount City ran away with the meet, and Worth County had just as little competition for second.
On the girls side, Worth County had 90, Stanberry and Mound City 76, Rock Port and Platte Valley 73, Mid-Buchanan 68, South/Nodaway-Holt 44, Albany 28, East Atchison 25, North/West Nodaway 24, and North Andrew 12.

On the boys side, Mount City had 149 points. Worth County had 100, Mid-Buchanan 67, East Atchison 59, Stanberry 53.5, South/Nodaway-Holt 50, Albany 30.5, North/West Nodaway 30, Rock Port 29, Platte Valley 13, and North Andrew 8.

Anna Gladstone was pushed in the 100 Hurdles by Olivia Richards (South/Nodaway-Holt), but came out on top with a time of 16.66 to Richards’ 16.89. Aivry Griffin was sixth with a time of 18.09. Anna beat out Kristin Herndon (North/West Nodaway) despite Herndon matching a personal best; Gladstone had 48.77 to Herndon’s 49.34.

The 4x100 Relay team of Liz Lyle, Regan Allee, Jessi Badell, and Navada Hoff was fifth with a time of 56.39. The 4x200 team of Grace McElvain, Aivry Griffin, Anna Spainhower, and Navada Hoff was sixth with a time of 2:04.57. The 4x400 team of Kristin New, Liz Lyle, Regan Allee, and Braidy Hunt was fifth with a time of 4:37.77. The 4x800 team of Kristin New, Braidy Hunt, Megan Cassavaugh, and Jill Hardy was sixth with a time of 11:34.21.

Anna Gladstone nearly caught Marissa Jensen (Stanberry) in the High Jump, clearing 5’2” for the first time and matching a personal best; she finished second to Jensen but lost out on tiebreaks. Liz Lyle was fourth with a jump of 4’10”. The Tigers were 1-2 in the Pole Vault as Regan Allee won with a height of 9 feet, and Jessi Badell was second with a height of 8 feet.  Anna Gladstone was second in the Long Jump with a jump of 16’7½”. Liz Lyle was fifth with a jump of 15’1½”.

Merrideth Spiers won the Shot Put with a throw of 34’11½”. Kennedy Galanakis was sixth with a throw of 28’3½”. Spiers also won the Discus with a throw of 117’4”. Kennedy Galanakis was fifth with a throw of 97 feet.

On the boys side, Andrew Alarcon was third in the 100 with a time of 12.82, while Jaxon Anderson was fifth with a time of 13.13. Bryant McCord won the 200 with a time of 23.99, while Andrew Alarcon was fifth with a time of 25.34.  McCord also won the 110 Hurdles with a time of 16.17. The Tigers placed two in the 300 Hurdles as Jace Cousatte was fourth with a personal best of 46.45. Aydan Gladstone was fifth with a time of 46.62.

The 4x100 team of Jaxon Anderson, Andrew Alarcon, Caleb Parman, and Bryant McCord won with a personal best time of 45.67. The 4x200 team of Caleb Parman, Andrew Alarcon, Jaxon Anderson, and Aydan Gladstone was fourth with a time of 1:40.21.

Aydan Gladstone was fifth in the Pole Vault with a height of 10’6”. The Tigers were 1-2 in the Long Jump as Caleb Parman won with a jump of 20 feet, while Bryant McCord was second with a jump of 19’9¼”. For McCord, it was a banner day as he had three first place finishes, in the 200, the 100 Hurdles, and the 4x100. Caleb Parman also won the Triple Jump with a jump of 39’10”. Jaxon Anderson was fifth with a jump of 38’7¾”.

Jacob New was fifth in the Shot Put with a personal best throw of 38’8”. Isaac Alarcon was fourth in the Discus with a throw of 109’3”. Jacob New continued to excel in the Javelin, with a winning throw of 145’7”. Alex Rinehart matched a personal best with a fifth place throw of 133 feet.

NOTE – Anna Gladstone’s Long Jump performance at the Tiger Relays, which broke her own school record, also set a meet record. She jumped 17’4½”.
