Courthouse News for April 17th, 2019

 Sometime around 2330 on April 8th and 0100 on the morning of April 9th someone ran over a stop sign on J20 and 255th Ave and another stop sign at J20 and 260th Ave just east of Tingley. The driver also entered multiple fields running over gates and tearing up the fields. The vehicle should be missing a front turning light cover and appears to be an older Chevy pickup or Blazer with Hankook Dyna Pro ATM tires. A reward will be issued for any information related to the conviction of the persons involved. Please call the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office with any information.

On Monday, April 8, 2019, at about 4:24 PM, the Nodaway County 911 Center received a call of a house fire at 101 Hickory in Elmo, MO. In the subsequent investigation, Deputy McDonald, Deputy Logan, and Detective Cochenour became suspicious of the cause and origin of the fire. Investigators from the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office were called to assist with the investigation.

Investigators developed probable cause that this was an arson fire and a case was submitted to a Special Prosecutor that was assigned the case. On April 10, 2019, the Special Prosecutor charged Neil Ray Hacker, age 40, of 101 Hickory, Elmo, MO, with 2nd Degree Arson. Hacker is in custody in the Nodaway County Jail with No Bond Pending a Hearing before the court. “I would like to commend Deputy McDonald, Deputy Logan, and Detective Cochenour for their exemplary attention to detail and team work with the Fire Marshals that led to a successful investigation. I would like to also recognize Elmo’s Volunteer Fire Personnel and Fire Chief Doug Hunt for their assistance and dedication to the community of Elmo,” said Nodaway County Sheriff Randy Strong on the Sheriff’s Department's Facebook Page.

The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office arrests multiple suspects in an ongoing narcotics distribution investigation. Jamie Key, 37, of Bedford was arrested on April 9, 2019, in the 2100 block of Highway 2, in Bedford. He was wanted on an active Taylor County Warrant for five (5) counts of Controlled Substance Violations – Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a Class D Felony. Key is being held at the Taylor County Sheriff's Office without bond pending an appearance before the Magistrate.
Jacob Jones, 24, of Bedford was taken into custody at the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office on April 9, 2019. He was wanted on an active Taylor County Warrant for Controlled Substance Violations – Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a Class D Felony, and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a Class C Felony. Jones is being held at the Taylor County Sheriff's Office without bond pending an appearance before the Magistrate.

Terry Cavin, 31, of Bedford was arrested on April 9, 2019 in the 1400 block of Main Street in Bedford. He was wanted on an active Taylor County Warrant for two (2) counts of Controlled Substance Violations – Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a Class D Felony. Cavin is being held at the Taylor County Sheriff's Office without bond pending an appearance before the Magistrate.

Benjamin Hill, 22, of Bedford was arrested on April 9, 2019, in the 2100 block of Highway 2, in Bedford. He was wanted on an active Taylor County Warrant for two (2) counts of Controlled Substance Violations – Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a Class D Felony. Hill is being held at the Taylor County Sheriff's Office without bond pending an appearance before the Magistrate.

On April 9th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Kenny Roberts (30) of Jameson alleging No Seat Belt and Possession of Marijuana.

On April 12th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Jakob Cordell (21) of Skidmore alleging four counts Passing Bad Check (two Felonies) and Stealing (Felony).

On April 13th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Luciano Fustagnoeare (23) of Topeka (KS) in Harrison County on charges of Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On April 13th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Bryan Cornell (32) of Hartland (WI) in Harrison County on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Felony). He was subsequently charged on April 14th by Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer.

On April 14th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Connor Pelan (22) of Omaha alleging Assault, Attempted Assault, and two counts Property Damage. Bond was set at $500, cash or corporate surety, with the defendant released on his own recognizance.

On April 15th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Nicholas Bennetti (20) of Kansas City alleging No Insurance.

On April 15th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Suzanne Brendlinger (34) of Stanberry alleging Operating Vehicle Owned by Another Without Insurance.

On April 15th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Kelly Parkin (34) of Bennington (NE) alleging No Insurance.

On April 15th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Zachary Brannen (33) of Albany in Gentry County on charges of DWI, Careless & Imprudent Driving (accident), Failure to Register, No Seat Belt, and a misdemeanor Harrison County Warrant for No Seat Belt.

Charges listed are mere allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
