Gordon Green 1942-2024

Gordon Guy Green was born to Jacob Thomas and Neva Pearl (Joslyn) Green on September 30, 1942.  He was welcomed by  7 siblings, Donald, Irene, Evelyn, Gerald, Junior, Norman, and Dick.   Gordon met Barbara Young from Gravity and they were married on November 10, 1963 and dedicated 25 years to each other.  To this marriage, David Wade, Martha Ann (McCartney) and Thomas Allen Tyril were born.   In 1983 Gordon took his GED and attended Peru State University, graduating with a Bachelors of Science in 1988.  Soon thereafter he met Betty Hill who became the love of his lifetime, for the rest of their lifetime.  In May of 1999 he earned his Masters from NWMSU.  He worked as a mental health counselor at Catholic Charities and Waubonsie Mental Health until retirement, at which time he took on the job of driving the special needs bus for Shenandoah schools.  During his lifetime he spent many hours encouraging and counseling youth and troubled souls.

While he lived in Braddyville Gordon became an ordained minister and humbly became the pastor of Braddyville Christian Church.  These people became like family to him.   Gordon loved time with his family, time with his animals; especially time with his Gordon Setter dogs. He leaves behind his beloved animals, Arlo, Hannah, Josie, Peppy and Goose.

Gordon left this earthly body behind on February 4, 2025, trading it in for a glorified body, which he will enjoy in the presence of His Father for the rest of eternity.  Preceding him in death was his faithful companion of 30 years, Betty Jean Hill.  His Parents, Jakie and Neva, Siblings, Donald Green, Irene White, Eveleyn Loghry, Norman Green, Junior Green, and Dick Green.  Also Granddaughter Taylor McCartney.

Survivors include one last sibling, Gerald Green, Sister in Law, Marvel Green, Son David Green (Danielle Miller) daughter,  Martha McCartney (Terry Skelly) Son, Tyril Green (Christy) ; Grandchildren, Justin Green (Charlotte), Kelli Jo Wiederholt (Shawn Staples) Lacie Allen (Devon) McKenzie Hale (Trevor) Shelby McCartney, Wyatt Green (Camille) Garrett Green (Twila) Faith, Ally, and Oakley Green and 15 Great Grandchildren.
