On January 27th, former Hopkins City Clerks Teddy Phipps and Krystal Bowen filed lawsuits against the City of Hopkins over their termination on March 8th, 2024 by the city. Bowen’s lawsuit alleges the creation of a hostile work environment, retaliation, termination due to her gender and pregnancy, and violation of Missouri laws against whistleblower protections. Phipps’ lawsuit alleges discrimination due to his having PTSD, the creation of a hostile work environment, and violation of Missouri laws against whistleblower protection.
On February 4th, Musa Mabwe (31) of Rockford (IL) failed to appear in Daviess County Associate Circuit Court on charges of DWI, Resisting Arrest, and Unlawful U Turn. His $500 bond was forfeited.
On February 5th, the Bethany Republican-Clipper reported that Harrison County Prosecutor Michael Wulff dropped rape and burglary charges against Jacob Borntreger (32) of Elmo.
On February 10th, Theresa Marcione (45) of Mount Ayr failed to appear in Worth County Associate Circuit Court on charges of Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Felony). A warrant was issued and bond was denied.
On February 11th, Justin Fitzmier (34) of Maryville failed to appear in Nodaway County Associate Circuit Court on a charge of Violation of Protection Order. A warrant was issued and bond set at $500, cash only.

On February 11th, Jennifer Miller (38) of Ravenwood failed to appear in Nodaway County Associate Circuit Court on charges of two counts Forgery (Felony), Stealing (Felony), and Financial Exploitation of Elderly Person (Felony). A warrant was issued and bond denied.
On February 11th, Robert Mauck (23) of Knox City (MO) pleaded guilty in Nodaway County Associate Circuit Court to a charge of Property Damage. He was placed on two years probation by Judge Robert Rice. Defendant must pay $500 restitution, $75 prosecutor’s fee, and court costs.

An affidavit from the Northwest Missouri State University Police Department alleges the defendant intercepted an electronic transfer of $3,208.97 of student aid intended for a student and used it to purchase cryptocurrency.
On February 13th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Tina Dieter filed charges against Launi Horany (23) of Maryville alleging Stealing. An affidavit from the Maryville Police Department alleges that the defendant stole 17 food items, 15 health and beauty items, and two clothing items from the Maryville Wal-Mart valued at over $250.
On February 13th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Tina Dieter filed charges against Justin Brodrick (41) of Quitman alleging Driving While Revoked (Felony, 4th Offense).

On February 13th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Tina Dieter filed charges against Larry Miller (32) of Skidmore alleging Stealing. An affidavit from the Maryville Police Department alleges the defendant stole a welder from Ace Hardware of Maryville valued at $369.99.
On February 13th, Treigh Fehring (27) of Bethany pleaded guilty in Grundy County Circuit Court to a charge of Stealing. He was placed on probation for five years, ordered to complete the 3rd Circuit Adult Treatment Program, and ordered to pay $300 to the Grundy County Restitution Fund by Judge Matthew Krohn.
On February 14th, Daviess County Prosecutor Andrea Beth Gibson filed charges against Cory Burchett (41) of Trenton alleging Trafficking Drugs (Felony). Bond was denied.
On February 14th, Judge Robert Rice ordered the extradition of Dustin Perry (27) of Maryville to Mills County (IA) to face a charge of Driving While Barred.
On February 14th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that an 18 year old man from Skidmore was injured in a crash on Route ZZ near Graham after he lost control on ice covered roads, struck an embankment, and overturned, partially blocking the northbound lane of traffic.
On February 15th, someone littered a bag of fast food trash along Route 46 one half mile northeast of Parnell.
On February 16th, the Maryville Forum reported that fire departments were called to battle a blaze in Clearmont that destroyed a home that evening.
Charges listed are merely allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
