Hadley DeFreece had 22 points and Baylie Busby went beast mode, getting 13 points, a career high 18 boards, and a career high 12 assists as Northeast Nodaway got back on the winning track Tuesday, February 4th with a 64-43 win over Union Star.
Kynder Florea scored four points early and then Busby went coast to coast and then scored off steals from Kynder Florea and Blair Nelson. Skyler Florea posted up and scored twice and then Sasha Deardorff, back from an illness, scored off a Kynder Florea steal to make it 17-3.
Ember Workman cut it to 17-5, but then Hadley DeFreece got on the board and then Baylie Busby scored off a steal from Hadley to make it 21-5 after one quarter.
Hadley DeFreece got the hot hand with back to back jacks to make it 27-5 to start the second. At that point, Northeast began subbing freely, using all of its players off the bench at one time or another. But Union Star was not ready to throw in the towel and Kenzie Pettijohn ripped off 10 points in less than a three minute span to cut it to 28-15. Skyler Florea hit a free throw and posted up and scored inside, Baylie Busby scored off a steal, and Hayley Yost scored two free throws to build the lead back to 35-19 at the half.
DeFreece scored off a Kynder Florea steal, Skyler Florea hit from inside, Hadley DeFreece hit a 3-pointer, and Baylie Busby got a third chance putback to make it 44-21 to start the third quarter. Union Star cut it to 44-27, but never got any closer the rest of the way.
Hadley went on another scoring burst in the fourth quarter and Hayley Yost got loose in the post as the Bluejays led by as much as 61-36 in the period.
