Accident Results in Man Being Lifeflighted

An accident Tuesday evening February 13th resulted in a Clarinda man being lifeflighted. The Missouri Highway Patrol reports that a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am driven by James Drake (21) of Blockton was southbound on Route H seven miles south of Darlington at around 9:20 pm. The Pontiac failed to negotiate a curve, traveled off the east side of the roadway, struck a DOT sign, traveled down an embankment, struck several trees, and came to rest on its passenger side facing southeast. A passenger, Nicholas Nelson (20) of Clarinda received serious injuries and was lifeflighted to KU Medical Center. Drake was not injured in the accident. Neither was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
