All-State & College Football Players from Worth County's 11 Man Squads

All-State Football Players for Worth County's 11 Man Squads
The following players were named All-State in football for Worth County's 11-Man squads (that I know of). They laid the groundwork for the present success of Worth County's eight man program.

They are:

James Hardy, defensive back (1984). Also carried the load for Worth County as a runningback; gained over 1,000 yards for the 1984 GRC Championship team.

Paul Sackett, defensive end (1984). One of the best tacklers we ever had; always had a nose for the ball and was always atop the tackling leaderboard.

Craig McNeese, linebacker (1981). One of the best hitters we ever had on both sides of the ball. In 1981, he hit a Stanberry player so hard, he took off his helmet while scoring a touchdown.

Tyler Poppa, defensive back (1981). Played quarterback for the 1981 team and anchored the Tigers' defensive secondary for the first-ever playoff team. Played for Graceland after graduating from Worth County.

Scott Andrews (1981). Another big hitter for the 1981 Tigers; he would hit people just for the sake of it.

Kevin Hiatt, 1st team defense (Late 1970's). Also played runningback for the Tiger teams of the late 1970's following the consolidation of the Grant City and Sheridan schools and broke the 200 yard barrier in a game. Played for Northwest after graduating from Worth County. He is the father of Kyler Hiatt, the standout runningback for Worth County's 2007 State Championship team. Kyler also played for Northwest.

Paul Terry (1972) was named First Team Runningback for Bull Reece's 1972 team that went 6-3.

Bob Prather, wide receiver (Late 1960's). He was named twice. He was one of the best receivers Worth County or the GRC ever had. He was the heart and soul of the teams from 1967 to 1969 that won a GRC Title in 1967 and went 23-3-1 during that span, capped off by a 57-12 win at Cameron. Played for Mizzou.

Robert Thompson (1967) also played on the Bull Reece teams.

11 Man Tiger Football Players who played college ball:
Kevin Hiatt (Northwest Missouri State)
Jon Adwell (Northwest Missouri State) -- Started for two years as a Blocking Back. He competed as a freshman on Worth County's last 11-man team in 1988.
Scott Andrews (Northwest Missouri State)
Tyler Poppa (Graceland)
Bob Prather (Mizzou)
Mac Spainhower (Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State) -- was on the 1938 GRC Championship Team. Played for A&M from 1939-1941.
Chase McLaughlin (Oklahoma A&M) -- on Glenn Marr's first-ever football team in 1935.
Jim Lutes (Oklahoma A&M) -- on the 1949 football team.

This is just a preliminary list. Please send all additions and corrections to our Facebook page or email express@grm.net.
