The third time was not a charm for the North Harrison boys against Gilman City as they were denied third place, falling 74-64 to the Hawks Saturday afternoon. North Harrison had previously beaten Gilman City in conference play and in the Gilman City Tournament. However, the difference was that Gilman City was able to dictate the pace of play, running up and down the floor early and often. North Harrison fought back to tie it at 31 and then 33 in the second period, but fell behind Gilman City’s torrid pace after Cornelius Peery hit a triple to put them up for good.
Logan Craig’s free throws cut it to 51-45 in the third after Gilman City had gone up 51-41, but then North Harrison went through a five minute scoring drought. They were unable to buy a board or a stop in the meantime as Gilman City got six second chance points during a 10-0 run that gave them their biggest lead of 61-45 at the 6:57 mark of the fourth. North Harrison was unable to keep Gilman City off the boards, as they gave up 15 offensive rebounds Saturday.
