Worth County's junior high girls finished with a 7-5 season, which bodes well for the future. It was their best season in recent memory and they concluded their season with a 13-3 win over North Andrew Monday. Grace Schottel was overpowering for most of the game, tossing a no-hitter, one of the first in recent memory. She got in trouble in the third, walking three consecutive batters and some errors allowed three runs to cross the plate; however, by that time, the game was already decided. She struck out six for the game and not one ball left the infield; five of her strikeouts were called. For her last two games, Grace Schottel allowed only one hit in seven innings of work, struck out 12 batters, and only allowed two balls to leave the infield.
North Andrew had a decent pitcher, but what was shaping up to be a pitching duel suddenly turned into a rout when Jarisa Moffat's two-out double that landed right on the right field line plated Sidney Troutwine and opened the floodgates for Worth County. Payton Adwell hit a single to center and made it all the way to third when she let it by her as Moffat scored. Payton Adwell then successfully pulled off a delayed steal of home to make it 2-0. Rachel Gardner restarted the inning as she reached on an error as the first baseman's leg came off the bag and later came around to score on a wild pitch to make it 4-0.
Worth County scored nine more in the second. Sidney Troutwine doubled to the wall in left field; the wind was blowing out to left, which turned a lot of fly balls into extra bases. She came around to score on a pair of wild pitches. Quinci Schottel reached on a dropped pop fly and then Jarisa Moffat tripled to the wall in left to score Quinci and get her second extra base hit of the afternoon. Payton Adwell reached on a scratch hit as a pop fly dropped into no-man's land behind the mound and Rachel Gardner doubled them both in and then scored for the second time on a wild pitch. Kristen Ross walked and Victoria Moore reached on an error and they both scored when Dominique Findley singled just past second and went to third on an error when the center fielder misplayed it. Grace Schottel reached on an error to score Findley, stole second and went to third on a throwing error on the catcher, and scored on a wild pitch to round out the scoring for Worth County.
