Worth County FFA Grasslands team recently competed at
District and State level competitions.
This year’s team included Chase Thummel, Brandon Allee, Sydney Thummel and
Jared Simmons. They competed at the
Northwest District Grasslands contest at the Pony Express Wildlife Reserve in
St. Joseph on October 4th.
The team placed 3rd the district competition and went on to compete at the
State Grasslands contest in Ashland, MO on October 18th. The Grasslands contest requires students to
appraise the value of grassland areas by determining soil characteristics,
evaluating wildlife capabilities, identifying species of plants present, and
determining suitability for beef cattle production.
