Incumbent Democratic Commissioner Rob Ruckman said that two of the main issues moving forward were the economy and assessed valuation. He said that one of the concerns he had was that assessed valuation in the county would go down since people would be selling off their livestock during the drought and people would not have the income they did before. He said that the county's financial picture was in good shape and better shape than a lot of other counties and that he would like to continue that.
If reelected, Ruckman said that he would like to keep the county in sound financial health and look for economic opportunities. He said that he would like to see the commission focus more on economic issues; "I'm open to anything that would create jobs and keep our young people here in the county," he said. He said that better equipment and doing a better job of using resources were two of the main reasons the county was in strong financial health.
