The Worth County Commission voted Monday October 22nd, 2012 to purchase a new sheriff's truck from Glendenning Motors in Mount Ayr. Sheriff Terry Sheddrick had requested a new vehicle, saying that his old one was wearing out. The county opened bids for three different trucks from area dealers. Commissioner Rob Ruckman made a motion to purchase the truck from Pettijohn Auto in Bethany instead. However, that motion failed on a 2-1 vote, with commissioners Dennis Gabbert and Ted Findley opposed. Dennis Gabbert then made a motion to purchase the truck from Glendenning, which passed on a 2-1 vote with Commissioner Ruckman opposed. The cost will be around $26,000, minus whatever they get for trading in the old vehicle. The county took out a loan from Great Western Bank at 4% interest to pay for the vehicle. The county will pay it back out of various funds that the county has. A third bid, from Taylor Chevrolet, was rejected because Commissioner Gabbert said that it did not meet the county specs; it was a 2012 while county specs called for a 2011 vehicle.
Two patrons reported not getting tax rock that they should have gotten. Allan Jeffery reported that he had no gravel on part of road #284 northeast of Allendale off Route O. Carol Chicken reported not getting any gravel past her mailbox on road #47.
A tree was down on road #197 due to high winds. Tubes were needed around the county; one was needed near Troy Hawk's east of Sheridan while two were needed near Denver. Another was needed near Mount Waller, southeast of Grant City.
