East Commissioner Candidate Calls for Fiscal Responsibility, Common Sense

Regan (Reggie) Nonneman, Republican candidate for East Commissioner, said that he would be guided by fiscal responsibility and common sense if elected to the East Commissioner's position. He is challenging incumbent Democrat Rob Ruckman. He said that he wanted to see the county focus more on preventative maintenance and fix roads before they went bad. "It's like replacing shingles on your house," he said. "You don't wait until it becomes something much worse." He said that he would like to see the county step up enforcement of the brush ordinance, saying it was necessary in order for the county to maintain its roads.

Regarding economic development, Nonneman said that he would like to see more businesses like Sherri's Pharmacy started. He said that since a lot of the buildings in the county were in bad shape and that factory jobs were not coming back, the county needed to focus on attracting more businesses like that which employed 10 or fewer people in order to grow.

Nonneman pledged to be more strict about spending county resources than he would his own money. He said that he would like to see the county use the resources it had wisely. "If we're a step ahead of the game, it will be a lot cheaper to replace equipment and make repairs," he said.
