Six Softball Seniors Honored at Final Home Game

Six seniors were honored for Worth County following the team's final home game, a 14-4 loss to North Andrew in five innings. The Cardinals simply outclassed Worth County as they were timing and crushing the ball all night, aided by a strong wind that blew out to left. Honored for Worth County were Kali Cameron, Sidney Davenport, Rebecca Moore, Haven Schottel, Kacey Smyser, and Shannon White. All six seniors played the whole game for the Tigers. Haven played strongly, making a pair of outstanding running catches, including one in which she came from center to just behind shortstop to make a catch. She also scored on a wild pitch in the fifth. Shannon White played right field and scored a run in the fifth when Claire Andrews, who had not bunted much all year, laid down a perfect bunt that got her home and that set up Haven's dash to the plate. The other two runs for Worth County scored in the third when Rebecca Moore singled home Haven and Sidney Davenport.
