Thomas Warren got 13 points and 10 boards on an ice-cold Gilman City junior high boys team, and Pattonsburg came away with a 26-17 win Tuesday, October 21st.
Aaron Sybert started off the Hawk scoring with a free throw off a drive right after the Hawks controlled the opening tip, but the next few minutes belonged to Warren, who scored seven points in a span of just over two minutes. Hayes Booth added a free throw to give Pattonsburg an 8-1 lead.
Grady Webb hit a shot from the left wing off a pass from Brentley Hogan and Aaron Sybert added a shot off a Jaxon Teel steal to cut it to 8-5, but Bentley White hit a pullup at the buzzer to give Pattonsburg a 10-5 lead going into the second.
The Hawks could not buy a bucket in the second quarter with the exception of a drive and score by Aaron Sybert. Hayes Booth, the littlest player on the court, was wreaking havoc; he had a pullup while Bentley White added three points and Warren added two to give Pattonsburg a 17-7 lead at the half.
Warren connected again for Pattonsburg to give them a 19-7 lead before Brentley Hogan got untracked for Gilman City, scoring five straight to cut it to 19-12. But Bentley White cut inside and got a pass from Case Gardner to stop the bleeding; White added a free throw to give Pattonsburg a 24-12 lead after three.
Grady Webb scored five for the Hawks in the fourth quarter, but Gilman City never got closer than the final score.
For Gilman City, Grady Webb had 7 points. Aaron Sybert and Brentley Hogan had 5.
Kasim Curtis and Clayton McClain had 1 block.
