Grant City Administrator Lizzie Jeanes reported that a family came forward that would like to build a shelter house as a memorial next summer. They are going to raise the money and would like to put up a sign for their loved one. They have specifics about the size.
The total cost for the cleanup of the buildings that collapsed on the square is $27,263.06. The square footage and cost per building has been figured. Bills will be sent to the owners.
There is an across the board 20% increase for insurance renewal. There was discussion on whether the city needs to pay law enforcement liability since the city does not employ law enforcement officers. There was discussion about paying premiums on the golf course.
The council accepted a bid from Jed Morin to replace the poles at the Shelter House for $2,106.64, including labor and materials. He was the lone bidder.
Ryan Fletchall reported fixing water leaks, doing locates, helping with gas lines, and helping with the pool filter. The pool is filled back up and the filter is ready to be tested, but there are still leaks. The water plant is doing a burn-out to get chlorine levels back to where they need to be and to flush out lines.
Carl Staton reported getting a letter about gas inspection that took place in August; there were no concerns. He reported helping with water leaks, installed a new gas service line, and will be putting in the gas service line for the new Christian Church Fellowship Hall soon.
Tyson Troutwine reported that the chip seal was complete. The city crew got all the street signs put up, and they have been working on Fifth Street in front of the new construction for the Christian Church. The council voted to purchase up to $10,000 in rock, sand, and salt before the weather gets bad.
Clerk Farrah Richey reported that the new computers have been installed and are working great. There was a power surge and an issue with the computers talking to each other, but they have been resolved.
