Area Courthouse, Police, and Crime Reports for October 22nd, 2025

On October 10th, KTTN reported that the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department presented Deputy Anthony May with a Lifesaver Award for his actions that saved the life of another person. Deputy May responded to a medical emergency in Daviess County when he found someone in cardiac arrest. He performed CPR on the individual, an action credited with saving the person’s life.

On October 11th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a freightliner truck crossed the I-35 median three miles south of Pattonsburg, traveled through southbound traffic, went off the west side, and struck a group of trees. The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center.

On October 11th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 43 year old Cameron man was driving a three-wheeler northbound on Route 13 near Coffey when he lost control and it overturned. The man was injured and taken to Liberty Hospital.

On October 11th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 46 year old  Denver (MO) man was operating an ATV southbound on 127th Avenue near 385th Street in Harrison County when it went off the road and struck an embankment. The driver was injured and taken to Liberty Hospital.

On October 12th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a car and a semi-truck were northbound on Route 71 when the car struck the back of the semi. The driver of the car, a 72 year old man from Maryville, was taken to Mosaic Maryville with minor injuries.

On October 13th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Phoenix Coil (21) of Albany alleging Speeding (60/45) and DWI.

On October 14th, Piper Hunt (21) of Burlington Junction pleaded guilty in Nodaway County Associate Circuit Court to charges of DWI and Stopping in Middle of Roadway. She was fined $500 plus costs and placed on two years probation by Judge Robert Rice. Defendant must complete SATOP and the Midwest Victim Impact Program.

On October 14th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Tina Dieter filed charges against Jordan Lammers (26) of Maryville alleging Resisting Arrest, two counts Assault, DWI, Speeding (98 mph), and Failure to Drive on Right Half of Roadway. Bond was denied. The defendant was out on bond in Andrew County facing charges of DWI, Speeding (87 mph), Stopping on the Roadway, and No Insurance. 

On October 14th, Daviess County Prosecutor Andrea Beth Gibson filed charges against Joel Stokes (32) of Fort Lauderdale (FL) alleging Resisting Arrest (Felony), Wrong Way on Divided Highway, and Failure to Drive on Right Half of Roadway. Bond was denied. An affidavit from the Missouri State Highway Patrol alleges the charges arose after the defendant allegedly fled from an officer by cutting from the southbound to the northbound lane of I-35 in Daviess County and drove the wrong way up an exit ramp, resulting in a police chase.

On October 14th, Jimmie Ellis (80) of Albany pleaded guilty in Gentry County Associate Circuit Court to a charge of Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident). He was assessed $215.50 in fines and costs by Judge Rebecca McGinley.

On October 14th, Judge Corey Herron issued a warrant for the arrest of Andrew Phillips following receipt of a probation violation report.  Bond was set at $10,000 with defendant given leave to post 10%, posted by the defendant. Defendant may have no contact with the victim or possess or use any electronic device capable of communication with the victim by any means.

On October 15th, Daviess County Prosecutor Andrea Beth Gibson filed charges against Jason Hubel (49) of St. Joseph alleging Stealing (Felony) and Making False Report. An affidavit from the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department alleges the defendant stole a grain truck out of St. Joseph and then falsely stated to officers that he hitched a ride in it and that the driver had left. A truck driver recognized the vehicle as having been posted as stolen on Facebook and alerted authorities. Bond was denied.

On October 15th, Daviess County Prosecutor Andrea Beth Gibson filed charges against Jacob Whitt (45) of Kidder alleging Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony) and Possessing Plates Belonging to Another. Bond was set at $10,000 with defendant released on his own recognizance.

On October 15th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Joshua Jeffries (40) of McFall alleging Domestic Assault (Felony) and Kidnapping. Bond was set at $5,000, cash or corporate surety.

On October 15th, Zoey Griffel (24) of Lubbock (TX) failed to appear in Harrison County Associate Circuit Court on a charge of Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident). A warrant was issued and bond set at $152, cash only.

On October 15th, Bertrand Small (43) of Dallas (TX) failed to appear in Harrison County Associate Circuit Court on charges of Speeding (20-25 mph over) and No Valid License. A warrant was issued and bond set at $424, cash only.

On October 15th, Denis Sortoesquibel (20) of Siloam Springs (AR) failed to appear in Harrison County Associate Circuit Court on charges of Speeding (20-25 mph over) and No Valid License. A warrant was issued and bond set at $424, cash only.

On October 16th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Tina Dieter filed charges against Donald Piveral III alleging Failure to Register as Sex Offender (Felony) and Sex Offender Residing Within 1,000 Feet of School. Bond was set at $750, cash only. Defendant must wear GPS device, not reside within 1,000 feet of any school or playground, observe a curfew from 10 pm to 6 am, and have no contact with any person under 16 that is not his biological child.

On October 18th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a straight truck driven by a 42 year old Wichita (KS) driver was southbound on Route 33 in DeKalb County near Osborn and was attempting to go through the Route 36 intersection to continue southbound on Route M. The Patrol says the truck failed to yield to a school bus driven by a 64 year old Burlington Junction driver. Three teens on the school bus received minor injuries.

On October 18th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 68 year old Gallatin resident was injured when he was driving on Grand Street in Gallatin. His view was obstructed by fog, and he ran off the north side of the road and ran into a hole in the ground.

On October 20th, Judge Micha Lea Dixon issued a warrant for the arrest of Ronnie Stevens (35) of Maysville in Daviess County Associate Circuit Court following receipt of a bond violation report. Bond was denied.

On October 20th, Judge Daren Atkins recalled Lillian Jeffers (23) of Columbia (MO) following a 120-day treatment program at the Missouri Department of Corrections and placed them on five years probation effective November 14th. Defendant must obtain full-time employment within 30 days, attend Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous two times per week, obtain sponsor within 60 days, obtain mental health assessment within 30 days, and do follow-up treatment. Defendant had pleaded guilty to a charge of Domestic Assault (Felony).

On October 20th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Logan Campbell (60) of Stanberry alleging DWI and No Insurance.

On October 20th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Tina Dieter filed charges against Bradley Worthington (41) of Keokuk (IA) alleging two counts Stealing. An affidavit from the Maryville Police Department alleges the defendant stole a motor vehicle, $3,000 worth of merchandise from two area stores, and various items from the inside of peoples’ vehicles. Bond was denied.

Charges listed are merely allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
