Worth County’s track teams both placed second at districts and won some more hardware Saturday at St. Joseph Christian despite difficult conditions, in which the weather was chilly.
On the girls side, Platte Valley won with 108.5 points. Worth County had 85.5, Rock Port 74, North Andrew 72, East Atchison 66, Stanberry 59, St. Joseph Christian 48, Albany 34, Pattonsburg 34, King City 32, Union Star 26, Northeast Nodaway 26, LeBlond 23, North Nodaway 11, North Harrison 9, Mound City 8, West Nodaway 6, and North Daviess 1.
For the boys, Mound City had 96. Worth County had 89, Stanberry 80, King City 65, Rock Port 61, West Nodaway 48, East Atchison 41, LeBlond 36, Albany 33, Pattonsburg 32, Union Star 28, North Harrison 28, Northeast Nodaway 27, St. Joseph Christian 22, North Andrew 21, and Platte Valley 18.
The top four in each event will advance to go to Sectionals.
The girls qualified two in the 100 Hurdles as Brooklyn Richardson was second with a time of 17.89 and Morgan Beagle was fourth with a time of 17.97. Autumn Cousatte was seventh in the 400 with a time of 1:12.31. Brooklyn Richardson was fifth in the 300 Hurdles with a time of 53.70.
The 4x100 team of Hailey Adwell, Brooklyn Richardson, Rebecca Smith, and Morgan Beagle was third with a time of 54.42. The 4x200 team of Hailey Adwell, Braidy Hunt, Rebecca Smith, and Morgan Beagle was second with a time of 1:54.87. The 4x400 team of Hailey Adwell, Morgan Beagle, Brooklyn Richardson, and Braidy Hunt was third and qualified with a time of 4:36.75.
Aivry Griffin was tied for fifth in the High Jump with a height of 4’7”. Kara-Jean Staton was fifth in the Discus with a throw of 97’9”. The Tigers qualified two in the Triple Jump as Braidy Hunt was second with a jump of 30’8¼” and Justina Wimer was fourth with a jump of 28’4½”. Ali Brown qualified in the Javelin with a second place throw of 108’1”. The Tigers placed two in the Shot Put as Kara-Jean Staton was sixth with a throw of 29’10¾” and Ali Brown was eighth with a throw of 29’2½”. Keelin Engel won the Pole Vault with a height of 10’4”, while Paige Sherer was fifth with a height of 6’4¾”.
The boys qualified two in the 110 Hurdles. Aydan Gladstone was second with a time of 18.54, while Jace Cousatte was fourth with a time of 19.50. The Tigers were 1-2 in the 300 Hurdles as Jace Cousatte won with a time of 44.66, while Aydan Gladstone was second with a time of 46.25. Tyler New was eighth in the 800 with a time of 2:32.55.
The 4x100 team of John Galanakis, Brent Harris, Jackson Runde, and Braxton Hightshoe was fifth with a time of 49.30. The 4x200 team of Aydan Gladstone, Nate Adwell, Levi Cassavaugh, and Jace Cousatte was fifth with a time of 1:37.03. The 4x400 team of Braxton Hightshoe, Levi Cassavaugh, Nathan Adwell, and Jace Cousatte was second with a time of 3:48.54.
Jace Latham was second in the Shot Put with a throw of 42’9”, while Jackson Runde was sixth with a throw of 34’10½”. Nate Adwell won the Pole Vault with a height of 13’1½”, while Aydan Gladstone was third with a height of 11’7¾”. Braxton Hightshoe was fifth in the High Jump with a height of 5’7”, while John Galanakis was seventh with a height of 5’3”. Jackson Runde qualified in the Discus with a throw of 126’4”, while Jase Latham was eighth with a throw of 108’4”. Tyler New was seventh in the Triple Jump with a jump of 33’6”.
Northeast Nodaway
For the girls, the 4x200 relay team of Lauren McIntyre, Jill Boswell, Anne Schieber, and Ruby Wilmes was seventh with a time of 2:02.09. Jill Boswell was fifth in the 400 with a time of 1:07.23. The highlight of the day for the Bluejays was Anne Schieber winning the 800 by a good 3½ seconds and Ruby Wilmes qualifying with a fourth place finish. Schieber had a winning time of 2:37.74, while Wilmes had a time of 2:46.26. Jill Boswell was eighth in the 200 with a time of 29.04 and fifth in the Long Jump with a jump of 13’11”.
For the boys, Ben Boswell was seventh in the 400 with a time of 56.75. Colton Swalley was sixth in the 800 with a time of 2:29.24. Creed Wilcox qualified in the Shot Put with a throw of 37’1¾”. Dylan Wilmes was seventh with a throw of 34’8¼”. The Bluejays placed two in the Discus as Dylan Wilmes was sixth with a throw of 116’9” and Creed Wilcox was seventh with a throw of 116’7”. Chase Atkins won the Javelin with a throw of 144’11”.
North Nodaway
For the girls, Hayleigh Vinzant was sixth in the 3200 with a time of 15:12.88. Jacquelyn Cline was eighth in the 400 with a time of 1:13.81. Saryn Brown qualified for sectionals in the 300 Hurdles with a time of 53.37. Lauren Herndon was eighth with a time of 57.88. Saryn Brown was eighth in the High Jump with a height of 4’5”.
North Harrison
Camden Castleberry was seventh in the 800 with a time of 2:58.75 for the girls. She qualified in the Long Jump with a third place jump of 14’1”.
For the boys, Bret Emig was eighth in the 100 with a time of 12.23. The 4x200 team of Matthew Heintz, Tyson Gibson, Bret Emig, and Brandon Hamilton was sixth with a time of 1:42.89. Grant Claycomb was fifth in the 1600 with a time of 5:31.90. The 4x100 team of Bret Emig, Brandon Hamilton, Matthew Heintz, and Tyson Gibson was fourth with a time of 48.96, qualifying them for the sectionals. Grant Claycomb was seventh in the 800 with a time of 2:29.28. Tyson Gibson qualified in the Long Jump with a jump of 19’½”. That was good for fourth place. Gibson also qualified in the Triple Jump with a jump of 41’1¾”, good for second place.
