Junior High Tigers Sweep GRC Meet at Worth County

Worth County’s junior high track teams capped off a banner year by sweeping the GRC West title Thursday. It wasn’t even close as both Tiger teams ran away with the meet.

For the girls, Worth County had 160, Albany 67, Stanberry 50, North Andrew 38, St. Joseph Christian 38, Pattonsburg 36, and King City 19. The boys was a little closer, but still a convincing win for Worth County. Worth County had 149, Albany 93, North Andrew 74, St. Joseph Christian 49, King City 42, and Stanberry 41.

Emma Spencer swept the speed events for Worth County as she won the 100 with a time of 13.91 and the 200 with a time of 28.45. The Tigers were 2-3 in the 400 with Eva Engel getting second with a time of 1:20.02 and Bailey Steele third with a time of 1:34.93. Brylea Paxson won the 800 with a time of 3:02.05 and placed second in the 1600 with a time of 6:35.07. The Tigers placed three in the 100 Hurdles as Eva Engel was second with a time of 18.21, Riley Ridge was fourth with a time of 19.45, and Bridgette Hightshoe was fifth with a time of 19.71.

The 4x100 team of Eva Engel, Abbi Brown, Katie Fletchall, and Emma Spencer was second with a time of 58.92. The 4x200 team of Bridgette Hightshoe, Riley Ridge, Rayleigh Smith, and Katie Fletchall was second with a time of 2:08.92. The 4x400 team of Rayleigh Smith, Rylee Ruckman, Bridgette Hightshoe, and Katie Fletchall won with a time of 5:16.72.

Riley Ridge was second in the High Jump with a height of 4’1”. The Tigers were 1-2 in the Pole Vault; Eva Engel won with a height of 7’10”. Bridgette Hightshoe was second with a height of 5’11”. The Tigers were 2-3 in the Long Jump as Emma Spencer was second with a jump of 13’11”. Rayleigh Smith was third with a jump of 12’2”. The Tigers were also 2-3 in the Triple Jump. Abbi Brown was second with a jump of 27’7”. Riley Ridge was third with a jump of 27’2”. 

Abbi Brown was fourth in the Shot Put with a throw of 29’3” and second in the Discus with a throw of 75’6”. Rylee Ruckman was fifth with a throw of 66’4”. 

For the boys, Franklynn Taute was second in the 100 with a time of 12.64, second in the 200 with a time of 26.30, and second in the 400 with a time of 1:01.27. Brayden Stephens was fourth in the 400 with a time of 1:02.39. Cannon Fletcher won the 800 with a time of 2:30.52 and the 1600 with a time of 5:23.59. The Tigers were 1-2-3 in the 100 Hurdles as Brayden Stephens won with a time of 18.31, Andrew Griffin was second with a time of 18.86, and Brayden Combs was third with a time of 19.11.

The 4x100 team of Brayden Murphy, Carter Chapman, Sawyer Thurman, and Brayden Combs was third with a time of 59.09. The 4x200 team of Carter Chapman, Brayden Murphy, Sawyer Thurman, and Brayden Combs was fourth with a time of 2:03.91. The 4x400 team of Brayden Stephens, Cannon Fletcher, Carter Chapman, and Andrew Griffin was second with a time of 4:32.90.

The Tigers were 1-2-3 in the Pole Vault. Brayden Combs won with a height of 6’11”. Brayden Stephens and Wyatt Hill were second and third, both with a height of 6’5”. Carter Chapman was third in the Long Jump with a jump of 14’8”. Franklynn Taute was fourth with a jump of 14’6”. Andrew Griffin was third in the Triple Jump with a jump of 30’2”. Keaton Morin was fourth with a jump of 29’4”. 

Brayden Murphy was third in the Shot Put with a throw of 28’8”. Karson Briner was sixth with a throw of 25’2”. Brayden Murphy was fourth in the Discus with a throw of 89’1”. Cannon Fletcher was fifth with a throw of 88’4”.
