Arianna Owens Wins Twice for Mustangs in Stanberry

Arianna Owens won twice at Stanberry for the junior high North Nodaway girls Thursday. She won the 800 with a personal best time of 2:45.50. Avary Volner was seventh with a personal best time of 2:55.77. Arianna also won the 1600, taking it by almost 18 seconds and getting a time of 5:57.06. Marin Alexander was fourth with a personal best time of 6:44.02. Arianna also competed in the 100 and finished fourth with a time of 14.36, a personal best.

In other results, Chandra Wyllie got a personal best in the 200 with a time of 35.13. Avary Volner was eighth in the 100 Hurdles with a personal best time of 20.90. Chandra Wyllie got a personal best in the Shot Put with a throw of 6.94 meters.

For the boys, Cade Miller got a personal best in the 200 with a time of 32.14. Trenton Roberts was fourth in the 800 with a time of 2:38.55. McClellan Clements was fifth with a time of 2:41.05. Tristen Wray was second in the 1600 with a time of 5:44.33. The 4x400 Relay team of Tristen Wray, Trenton Roberts, Gannon Stricker, and McClellan Clements was sixth with a time of 4:52.68. Gannon Stricker won the Shot Put with a personal best throw of 11.50 meters. Stricker finished sixth in the Discus with a personal best throw of 27.20 meters.

Junior High Mustang Boys Collect 19 Points at Squaw Creek

North Nodaway’s junior high boys collected 19 points Monday at the Squaw Creek Relays in Mound City, while the girls collected 10.

Gannon Stricker was fifth in the Shot Put with a throw of 10.55 meters. He was sixth in the Discus with a throw of 26.78 meters. Tristen Wray was fourth in the 1600 with a time of 5:46.69. Trenton Roberts was fifth in the 800 with a time of 2:38.35 while McClellan Clements was seventh with a time of 2:40.91.  The 4x400 Relay Team was eighth with a time of 4:49.62.

Arianna Owens had the highlight for the girls as she won the 1600 with a time of 5:56.91.

 

Junior High Mustang Boys Collect 16 Points at Worth County

North Nodaway’s boys collected 16 team points at Worth County Tuesday, March 31st.

Trenton Roberts was fifth in the 800 with a time of 2:40.01. Tristen Wray was third in the 1600 with a time of 5:40.60. The 4x400 team of Tristen Wray, Trenton Roberts, Gannon Stricker, and McClellan Clements was sixth with a time of 4:46.85. Gannon Stricker was sixth in the Shot Put with a throw of 9.20 meters. Stricker was third in the Discus with a throw of 26.69 meters.

For the girls, Arianna Owens was second in the 1600 with a time of 6:03.53. The 4x400 team of Marin Alexander, Zoey Pearson, Avary Volner, and Arianna Owens was sixth with a time of 5:21.14.

 

Owen Martin Wins High Jump to Highlight Mustangs Day

Owen Martin won the High Jump for the North Nodaway boys to highlight their day Saturday at Worth County. He will advance to Mound City Saturday for sectionals. He edged out Andrew Griffin on tiebreaks with a height of 1.85 meters. Jordan DeLeon was seventh with a height of 1.65 meters.

Jordan DeLeon was fourth in the 110 Hurdles with a time of 18 seconds, qualifying him for the sectional meet. Owen Martin was eighth in the 1600 with a time of 5:04.87. DeLeon qualified in his second event in the 300 Hurdles, finishing fourth with a time of 47.23 seconds.

For the girls, Casey Wray was eighth in the 800 with a time of 2:53.50. She was also sixth in the 3200 with a time of 15:04.56.

Arianna Owens Wins 1600 at 275 Meet

A new star is rising in North Nodaway if she continues to work at it. Only a sixth grader, Arianna Owens won the 1600 in the Highway 275 meet. She has won that event all year for the Mustangs. She is also strong in basketball and softball.

At the Highway 275 meet in Mound City Tuesday, May 6th, Owens won with a time of 6:00.08, a varsity-level time. It would have placed her third in the varsity event. Teammate Zoey Pearson was third with a time of 6:19.82.

For the boys, Jackson Keho was fourth in the 400 with a time of 57.57. Conner Pearson was fifth in the 1600 with a time of 5:37.82. Marek Stevens was third in the High Jump with a height of 1.56 meters. Gannon Stricker was third in the Shot Put with a throw of 9.84 meters. Jackson Keho was fifth in the Triple Jump with a jump of 10.14 meters.

The boys 4x400 relay team of Marek Stevens, Hudson Alexander, Conner Pearson, and Jackson Keho was third with a time of 4:24.86.

Tigers Qualify Ten for State Track Meet

Ten Tigers qualified to go to state in track Saturday at the Sectional Track meet. They will compete at state this weekend.

The 97th MSHSAA Boys Track & Field Championships and the 49th Girls Championships will be held May 17th and 18th at Adkins Stadium at Jefferson City High School in Jefferson City. The Class 2 and 3 championships will be held there as well. Tickets are available at the MSHSAA website. There is a chance of rain Friday, but Saturday is forecast to be clear in Jefferson City.

For the girls, Rock Port had 91, East Atchison 60, K.C. For the boys, Lucas Frisch qualified for state in the 110 Hurdles. He was third with his second best time of the year at 16.06. Jonathon Harris (Orrick) will be tough to beat as he won with a time of 15.18. August Meadows (Mound City) was second with a time of 15.60 and Chauncey Brown (Mound City) was fourth with a time of 16.09.

The boys 4x200 team of Lucas Frisch, Landon Moser, Bo Collins, and Tyler New qualified with a third place finish of 1:33.68. They took two seconds off their time. The girls 4x200 team of Emma Spencer, Brooklyn Richardson, Keira Hardy, and Riley Ridge also qualified for state with a third place finish of 1:52.40 and took two seconds off their time. 

The girls duo of Emma Spencer and Brooklyn Richardson qualified for state in the 100, finishing third and fourth. Addison Grossenbacher (K.C. Lutheran) won with a time of 13.06 and Claire Staley (King City) was second with a time of 13.24. The girls 100 was a close race, as the second through seventh place finishers were within .18 of a second of each other. 

The boys 4x100 team of Lucas Frisch, Landon Moser, Bo Collins, and Tyler New made it through to the finals, placing third with a personal best time of 45.42. The girls 4x100  team of Emma Spencer, Brooklyn Richardson, Keira Hardy, and Rayleigh Smith made it as well, getting a second place finish of 52.10, a personal best.

Lucas Frisch took .42 of a second off his time in the 300 Hurdles and made it to state with a second place finish of 42.25, behind only August Meadows of Mound City. 

Emma Spencer qualified for state in the 200, placing fourth with a personal best time of 26.80. She has gotten better in the event every single time, knocking almost three seconds off her time.

Andrew Griffin narrowly missed out qualifying for state in the High Jump, getting fifth place with a height of 1.76 meters. He will return for two more years. He matched his second best height of the year.

Riley Ridge made it in the High Jump on the girls side, getting a second place jump of 1.54 meters. 

Eva Engel won the Pole Vault with a height of 3.17 meters. She battled difficult conditions; she was under the weather, and the event, which was supposed to start at 1:30 pm, did not start until 5:30 pm. But she pushed through with the win and will return to state.

On the boys side, Landon Moser narrowly missed out on a trip to state in the Long Jump, getting fifth with a jump of 5.87 meters. But he made it to state in the Triple Jump with a second place jump of 12.50 meters, a personal best.

Bo Collins made it to state in the Discus with a throw of 38.19 meters, good enough for fourth place.

Tyler New won the Javelin with a personal best throw of 46.72 meters, holding off Lucas Walker (Orrick) and Ean Meyer (Platte Valley).

NEN

Baylie Busby was seventh in the girls High Jump with a height of 1.38 meters. 

North Nodaway

Jordan DeLeon was fifth in the 110 Hurdles with a personal best time of 17.54. Mason Casner qualified for state in the Long Jump with a fourth place finish, matching a season best with 5.93 meters. 

Tiger Teams Finish Third at Districts in King City

Worth County’s teams both placed third at districts in King City and qualified many to Sectionals.

For the girls, Rock Port had 105, East Atchison 85, Worth County 75, Mound City 68, St. Joseph Christian 59, Platte Valley 58, Pattonsburg 55, Albany 47, King City 40, Nodaway Valley 38, Stanberry 37, South Holt 25, Winston 10, NEN 10, North Nodaway 4, North Andrew 2, and Union Star 1.

For the boys, Mound City had 122, Rock Port 89, Worth County 86, Platte Valley 78, Stanberry 75, Albany 59, Nodaway Valley 56, East Atchison 46, North Andrew 27, Winston 25, North Nodaway 16, King City 14, Stewartsville/Osborn 13, St. Joseph Christian 10, Union Star 9, South Holt 8, NEN 2, and Pattonsburg 2.

For the girls, Emma Spencer won the 100 with a season best time of 13.27, edging out Claire Staley (King City), who had 13.29. Brooklyn Richardson was third with a time of 13.40. Brianna Biondo (South Holt), who had won some meets earlier this year, finished fourth with a time of 13.60. The top four in each event qualifies for Sectionals. The top four in each Sectional qualifies for State.

Emma Spencer was second in the 200 with a time of 27.21. 

The Tigers placed two in the 100 Hurdles. Riley Ridge was seventh with a time of 18.30. Kristen Tracy was eighth with a time of 19.25. 

The 4x100 team won an exciting race over King City with the Tigers getting a time of 52.67 and King City a time of 52.74. The 4x200 was fourth with a time of 1:54.61. 

Riley Ridge was second in the High Jump with a height of 1.55 meters. 

The Tigers placed two in the Pole Vault. Eva Engel won with a height of 3.20 meters. Becca Smith saved her best for last as she got eighth with a personal best of 2 meters. 

Katelyn Fletchall was eighth in the Triple Jump with a jump of 8.59 meters. Kara Staton was sixth in the Shot Put with a season best throw of 9.92 meters. Staton was fifth in the Discus with a personal best throw of 33.26 meters. Autumn Cousatte was sixth in the Javelin with a throw of 28.99 meters.

For the boys, Lucas Frisch got a personal best in the 100 Hurdles. In an exciting three way race between Frisch, August Meadows (Mound City), and Chauncey Brown (Mound City), Meadows won with a time of 15.46, followed by Lucas Frisch with 15.57 and Brown with 16.00. Brayden Combs also got a personal best with a time of 18.65 and a sixth place finish. 

Frisch also got a personal best in the 300 Hurdles, where he finished second to Meadows with a time of 42.67. Combs saved his best for last, finishing sixth with a personal best time of 47.55.

The 4x100 had been edged out by Albany for much of the year, but broke the 46 second barrier and got a personal best to win Saturday with a time of 45.74. The 4x200 also got a personal best and won. After having been in the 1:40’s most of the year, they peaked during their last two meets and won Saturday with a time of 1:35.78, edging out Mound City, which had a time of 1:35.97. The 4x400 was sixth with a time of 3:57.68. 

Andrew Griffin was fourth in the High Jump with a height of 1.70 meters. 

The Tigers placed two in the Pole Vault. Brayden Combs was sixth with a height of 2.90 meters. Wyatt Hill was seventh with a height of 2.90 meters, with Combs winning on tiebreaks. 

Landon Moser was third in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.82 meters. He was third in the Triple Jump with a jump of 11.73 meters. 

Bo Collins was fifth in the Shot Put with a throw of 11.52 meters. He was fourth in the Discus with a throw of 38.28 meters. Tyler New won the Javelin with a throw of 45.08 meters.

NEN

Baylie Busby was third in the High Jump, matching a season best with a height of 1.45 meters. Dalanie Auffert saved her best for last as she was seventh in the Shot Put with a throw of 9.67 meters. 

For the boys, Jude Archer was eighth with a personal best of 12.42. Kenneth Schieber got a personal best in the 3200 with a time of 12:19.04. 

North Nodaway

Lauren Herndon came tantalizingly close to qualifying in the High Jump, getting fifth with a height of 1.40 meters. 

For the boys, Carlos Rohner got a personal best in the 400 with a time of 1:12.47. Draven Rowland got a personal best in the 800 with a time of 2:52.73. Jeremiah Vinzant knocked almost 21 seconds off his time in the 1600 with a time of 6:06.86. Jordan DeLeon got a personal best in the 100 Hurdles and finished fourth with a time of 18.06. 

The Mustangs placed two in the High Jump. Mason Casner was seventh with a height of 1.60 meters. Jordan DeLeon was eighth, also with a height of 1.60 meters.

Mason Casner was second in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.93, a season best. 

Junior High Tiger Girls Rise to Second; Brooklyn Smith Wins 100 at Tarkio

Worth County’s junior high girls rose to second Thursday at the Indian Relays in Tarkio and Brooklyn Smith won the 100. 

For the girls, Rock Port had 115, Worth County 62, Albany 58, St. Gregory’s 52, East Atchison 45, Mound City 42, South Holt 22, King City 21, Buchanan County Middle School 17, Platte Valley 16, North Andrew 10, Nodaway Valley 4, and North Nodaway 1.

For the boys, Mound City had 78, King City 63, Rock Port 51, North Andrew 50.50, East Atchison 50, Nodaway Valley 42, Buchanan County Middle School 32, Worth County 30, Platte Valley 27.50, South Holt 22, St. Gregory’s 12, and Albany 7.

For the girls, Brooklyn Smith won the 100 and got a personal best with a time of 14.02. She also got a personal best in the 400 and finished second with a time of 1:08.87. Audrey Runde spent all year between 19 and 21 seconds, but finally rediscovered her form from last year and got a personal best in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 18.47, good enough for third. 

The 4x100 relay team was third with a time of 59.15. The 4x200 was fifth with a time of 2:06.04. The 4x400 was fourth with a personal best of 5:07.28, beating their previous mark by over 15 seconds.

Brooklyn Smith matched a personal best in the High Jump with a third place finish and a height of 1.32 meters. 

The Tigers placed two in the Pole Vault. Megan Tracy was third with a height of 2.11 meters. Hartley Fitzgerald was fourth with a height of 1.98, a personal best.

Brooklyn Smith was third in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.22 meters. Megan Tracy was fourth in the Triple Jump with a jump of 8.45 meters. 

Laura Hansen got a personal best in the Shot Put with a throw of 8.39 meters. Audrey Runde was fourth in the Discus with a personal best throw of 23 meters.

The Tigers placed two in the 100 Hurdles. Mason Hiatt was fourth with a time of 18.88, a personal best. Brock Healy was sixth with a time of 19.19.

The 4x100 relay team was sixth with a time of 56.24. The 4x200 was fifth with a time of 1:56.90.

Mason Hiatt got a personal best in the High Jump with a height of 1.37 meters. 

The Tigers placed two in the Pole Vault. Bentley Frisch won with a height of 2.90 meters. Brock Healy was fourth with a height of 2.43. 

Maverick Cox was fourth in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.89 meters. Jordan Dannar got a personal best with a jump of 4.51. 

Brock Healy was fifth in the Triple Jump with a jump of 9.97 meters. He was first among seventh graders. Bentley Frisch got a season best with a jump of 9.55.

Brock Healy got a personal best in the Discus by over two meters and finished fifth with a throw of 30.17 meters. Wesley Brown matched a personal best with a throw of 23.70.

North Nodaway

Zoey Phillips got a personal best in the 100 with a time of 16.70. Trynzlee Ebrecht got a personal best in the 400 with a time of 1:14.82. Trynzlee broke the 20 second barrier in the 100 Hurdles and finished sixth with a time of 19.56. 

Zoey Phillips got a personal best in the Long Jump with a jump of 3.46 meters. Eliza Clements got a personal best in the Triple Jump with a jump of 7.67 meters. 

For the boys, Jackson Keho got a personal best in the 100 with a time of 13.37. Reed Martin also got a personal best with a time of 15.26. 

Trenton Roberts got a personal best in the 200 with a time of 34.46. Gannon Stricker got a personal best in the 400 with a time of 1:13.54. Robbie Forney got a personal best with a time of 21.69.

The 4x400 got a personal best by over 9 seconds, getting a time of 4:59.26.

Tiger Boys Win Third Meet of Year at Stanberry, Girls Third; DeLeon, Casner Finish 1-2 for Mustangs

Worth County’s boys won their third meet of the year, while the girls had their highest point total of the year and finished third. For North Nodaway, Jordan DeLeon and Mason Casner finished 1-2 in the High Jump as the boys finished with their highest point total of the year.

For the girls, Rock Port had 115, Nodaway Valley 77, Worth County 76, Platte Valley 63, Pattonsburg 56, Maysville 51, King City 44, Stanberry 37, Albany 31, DeKalb 21, Princeton 18, North Andrew 6, and North Nodaway 1.

For the boys, they didn’t have to worry about it coming down to the last event as they won handily this time. Worth County had 99, Stanberry 77, Albany 70, Nodaway Valley 66, Rock Port 65, Princeton 51, Platte Valley 47, North Andrew 35, North Nodaway 34, Maysville 33, DeKalb 11, King City 8, and Pattonsburg 7.

The girls were 2-3 in the 100 as Emma Spencer was second with a time of 13.81 and Brooklyn Richardson was third with a time of 13.91. Becca Smith got a season best in the 200 with a time of 32.32. Riley Ridge was fourth in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 18.96. Kristen Tracy was fourth in the 300 Hurdles with a time of 57.02.

The 4x100 team got a personal best and finished second with a time of 52.54. The 4x200 was fourth with a time of 2:05.26. The 800 Sprint Medley was fifth with a time of 2:20.60. 

Riley Ridge won the High Jump with a jump of 1.55 meters. Brooklyn Richardson was fourth with a height of 1.40. The Tigers placed two in the Pole Vault. Eva Engel won with a height of 3.35 meters. Becca Smith was fifth with a height of 1.83 meters. 

Katelyn Fletchall got a personal best in the Long Jump with a jump of 3.98 meters. She was fifth in the Triple Jump with a jump of 8.40 meters.

Kara Staton was fourth in the Shot Put with a throw of 9.53 meters. She was fifth in the Discus with a throw of 28.20 meters. 

The Tigers placed two in the Javelin. Autumn Cousatte broke the 30 meter barrier and finished fourth with a throw of 30.14. Brooklyn Richardson also got a personal best with a throw of 27.95.

The Tigers placed two in both the hurdle events. Lucas Frisch won the 110 Hurdles with a time of 17.30. Brayden Combs was third with a time of 19.49, a personal best. Frisch also won the 300 Hurdles. Brayden Combs was third with his second best time of the year at 48.07.

The 4x200 was fifth with a time of 1:50.65. The 800 Sprint Medley won with a time of 1:45.72.

Andrew Griffin was fourth in the High Jump with a height of 1.60 meters. Brayden Combs was fourth in the Pole Vault with a height of 2.74 meters. Wyatt Hill was fifth with a height of 2.59.

Landon Moser was third in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.56 meters. Wyatt Hill got a personal best with a jump of 4.77. Andrew Griffin was second in the Long Jump with a jump of 11.17.

Bo Collins was fourth in the Shot Put with a throw of 11.39 meters. He won the Discus with a throw of 39.76. Tyler New won the Javelin with a throw of 42.73 meters.

North Nodaway

Lauren Herndon got North Nodaway’s first points all year with a sixth place finish in the High Jump. She got a personal best jump of 1.35 meters. She also got a personal best in the Long Jump with a jump of 3.88 meters.

Jordan DeLeon was second in the 110 Hurdles with a time of 18.64. He was fourth in the 300 Hurdles with a time of 48.32 meters. 

The Mustangs finished 1-2 in the High Jump. Jordan DeLeon and Mason Casner both got a height of 1.70 meters, with DeLeon winning on tiebreaks. DeLeon got a personal best, while Casner matched a personal best.

Mason Casner was fourth in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.55 meters.

Junior High Tiger Girls Third at Rock Port, Boys Fourth; Brooklyn Smith Wins Long Jump, Bentley Frisch Wins Pole Vault

Brooklyn Smith won the Long Jump for the Junior High Tigers and Bentley Frisch won the Pole Vault Thursday at Rock Port in cold, damp conditions. 

For the girls, Rock Port ran away with the meet with 169 points. East Atchison had 69, Worth County 66, Mound City 63, Albany 26, South Holt 22, Union Star 13, North Andrew 12, Nodaway Valley 12, North Nodaway 7, and NEN 6.

For the boys, Rock Port had 100, Mound City 78, North Andrew 70, Worth County 53, Nodaway Valley 50, East Atchison 47, South Holt 33, Union Star 15, Albany 8, NEN 8, and North Nodaway 3.

For the girls, Brynn Chapman got a personal best in the 100 with a time of 17.79. Brooklyn Smith was fifth in the 400 with a time of 1:11.65. Hadley Rush was sixth in the 800 with a time of 3:15.62. Jolynn Hawk got a personal best with a time of 3:31.92. Audrey Runde was fourth in the 100 Hurdles with a season best of 19.26. 

The relay teams all placed. The 4x100 was second with a time of 59.44. The 4x200 was second with a time of 2:06. The 4x400 was fourth with a personal best time of 5:22.79, beating their old time by almost six seconds.

Brooklyn Smith was second in the High Jump with a personal best time of 1.32 meters. Paige Chaney was fifth with a time of 1.22. Megan Tracy was tied for second in the Pole Vault with a time of 1.98 meters. Hartley Fitzgerald was sixth with a personal best of 1.83. 

The highlight of the afternoon on the girls side was Brooklyn Smith winning the Long Jump with a jump of 4.48 meters. She beat her previous personal best by .32 of a meter. 

Megan Tracy was third in the Triple Jump with a personal best jump of 8.61. 

The Tigers may have found a new thrower. Audrey Runde, after starting off throwing between 16.94 and 17.62 meters, took a big leap forward and finished fourth with a throw of 21.95. Bella Blankenship was sixth with a throw of 19.45. 

For the boys, the Tigers placed two in the 100 Hurdles. Brock Healy was second with a time of 19 seconds. Mason Hiatt was fourth with a time of 19.67.

The 4x100 was third with a time of 56.86. The 4x200 was fourth with a time of 1:57.03.

The highlight of the afternoon for the boys was Bentley Frisch winning the Pole Vault with a height of 2.91 meters. It was a close three way race between Frisch, Cole White (Mound City), and Brock Healy, who really upped his game that afternoon. Frisch won out, with White second at 2.90 and Healy third with a personal best of 2.89. 

Maverick Cox tied for third in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.97 meters. Brock Healy was third in the Triple Jump with a jump of 9.59. 

Brock Healy was fourth in the Discus with a throw of 27.83. Wesley Brown got a personal best with a throw of 23.70. 

NEN

Piper Gray got a personal best in the 100 with a time of 15.79. Holly Bennett got a season best in the 200 with a time of 38.47. Rylee Scadden got a season best in the 400 with a time of 1:13.80. Sadie Hall got a personal best in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 21.54. 

The 4x100 was fifth with a time of 1:03.36. The 4x400 was fifth with a personal best time of 5:28.31. 

Piper Gray got a personal best in the Long Jump with a jump of 3.78 meters. Khloe Burns was fifth in the Shot Put with a throw of 8.79 meters. She was ahead of all the sixth and seventh graders; she will be a favorite to win that event next year if she works at it. 

Wyatt Scadden continued to move up the ranks in the 100, getting third with a personal best of 13.71. He was ahead of all the other seventh graders. He will be a favorite in that event along with Jackson Keho of North Nodaway next year if they work at it. 

Jaxen Taylor got a personal best in the 200 with a time of 37.56. Wyatt Scadden was sixth in the 400 with a time of 1:05.42. Liam Cordell got a personal best in the 800 with a time of 2:49.04. He got a season best in the 1600 with a time of 6:06.89. 

The Bluejays got two personal bests in the Long Jump. Xander Bodle got a personal best jump of 4.06 meters. Gracin Runde got a personal best jump of 3.69.

The field was loaded for Jace Burns in the Shot Put, but he beat all the seventh graders with a throw of 7.92 meters. He will be one to watch if he works at it. 

Brady O’Connell was sixth in the Discus with a throw of 24.68.

North Nodaway

Trynzlee Ebrecht got a personal best in the 400 with a time of 1:16.74. It was an improvement by over seven seconds from last year. Zoey Pearson got a personal best in the 1600 and was sixth with a time of 6:55.64. She beat her old mark by nine seconds. 

The Mustangs got two personal bests in the 100 Hurdles. Trynzlee Ebrecht got a personal best mark of 20 seconds. Pyper Smith got a personal best mark of 23.87.

The highlight of the day for the Mustangs was Ebrecht getting third in the Long Jump. She got a personal best mark of 4.15 meters, improving by almost half a meter. Zoey Phillips also got a personal best with a jump of 3.45. 

For the boys, Jackson Keho was sixth in the 100 with a time of 13.94. Gannon Stricker got a personal best time of 1:14.59 in the 400; it was an improvement of 3½ seconds. Robbie Forney got a personal best in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 21.83. It was an improvement of 1.56 seconds over last year.

The 4x400 was sixth with a personal best time of 5:08.80. It was an improvement of over seven seconds from their time at Mound City.

Tristen Wray got a personal best in the Long Jump with a jump of 3.26 meters. Jackson Keho was sixth in the Triple Jump with a personal best of 8.94 meters. 

Tiger Boys Win Home Meet as Wind Wreaks Havoc; Lane Graham Wins Long Jump for Shamrocks

Worth County’s boys overcame a windy afternoon that wreaked havoc on the meet and won their second meet of the year, edging out Rock Port and Stanberry. The girls finished ninth. North Harrison saw Lane Graham win the Long Jump as he continued on the tear that he started in Princeton the day before. 

For the girls, Rock Port had 88, East Atchison 71, South Harrison 63, Pattonsburg 57, Albany 54, Platte Valley 48, Maysville 41, Stanberry 24, Worth County 23, South Holt 23, Nodaway Valley 22, King City 17, DeKalb 13, NEN 5, East Harrison 2, North Harrison 2, and Tri-County 1.

For the boys, Worth County had 85, Rock Port 81, Stanberry 81, Platte Valley 55, Albany 48, South Harrison 47.5, East Atchison 35, King City 24, North Andrew 20, North Nodaway 18.5, North Harrison 10, South Holt 10, DeKalb 9, Maysville 8, NEN 8, Pattonsburg 5, Tri-County 4, Nodaway Valley 3, and East Harrison 2.

For the girls, Emma Spencer was fifth with a time of 14.54. The 4x100 team was fourth with a time of 55.31. Riley Ridge won the High Jump with a height of 1.45 meters. Addison Gray got a personal best in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.26 meters. Katelyn Fletchall got a season best in the Triple Jump with a jump of 8.44 meters. Kara Staton was fifth in the Shot Put with a throw of 9.35 meters. Autumn Cousatte was sixth in the Javelin with a throw of 26.70 meters.

The boys side came down to the last event of the afternoon. Worth County had 79 points, Rock Port had 77, and Stanberry had 71 with the 4x400 coming up. Worth County needed to finish ahead of Rock Port and finish at least fourth so that Stanberry could not mathematically catch them. They succeeded on both counts. Stanberry, which traditionally scores well in the 4x400 and 4x800, won the event with a time of 3:49.31, but Worth County was third with a time of 4:01.32. They finished ahead of Rock Port, which had a time of 4:14.74 to get the win. 

In other boys results, Lucas Frisch won the 110 Hurdles with a time of 18.75. Brayden Combs was sixth with a time of 21.31. Frisch ran into a stiff challenge from Cooper Mooney of King City in the 300 Hurdles. Mooney grabbed the early lead and led most of the way. But despite the stiff south wind, Frisch caught Mooney in the final 100 meters and passed him for the win. He won with a time of 45.01 to Mooney’s 45.91. Brayden Combs was fifth with a time of 49.71.

In the 4x100, Worth County led most of the way and ran their second best time of the year at 46.67 despite the wind. But a bad handoff on the final leg opened the door for Albany and Kyle Emerson caught Worth County at the end as Albany finished first with 46.50 to Worth County’s 46.67. 

With the wind wreaking havoc on most of the high jumpers, Andrew Griffin thrived in the adversity and matched a personal best to win the event with a height of 1.75 meters. 

Landon Moser was fourth in the Long Jump with a personal best of 5.76 meters. Moser won the Triple Jump with a season best 11.78 meters. Bo Collins was second in the Shot Put with a throw of 12.12 meters. He was third in the Discus with a throw of 37.96. 

Tyler New got a personal best in the Javelin with a winning throw of 45.40 meters, 1.7 meters ahead of his previous best. He had trailed Ean Meyer (Platte Valley) all year in the event, but finally moved ahead of him with his effort.

NEN

Baylie Busby tied for third in the High Jump with a height of 1.40 meters. Blair Nelson got a season best in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.08 meters. Severia Hall matched a personal best in the Triple Jump with a jump of 6.50 meters. Hayley Yost had a personal best throw of 21.43 meters in the Discus. She has improved her throw by almost five meters since the start of the year. 

For the boys, Kenneth Schieber thrived in the 800 on a day when so many other athletes struggled with the wind and times were way up. He got a season best and a fifth place finish of 2:30.08. He also finished fourth in the 3200 with a time of 13:11.31. Kyler Scadden was fifth in the Javelin with a throw of 34.50 meters.

North Nodaway

Carlos Rohner got a personal best in the 400 with a time of 1:12.83. Draven Rowland got a season best in the 1600 with a time of 6:43.13. Jeremiah Vinzant was sixth in the 3200 with a time of 14:13.96. Jordan DeLeon was third in the 110 Hurdles with a time of 19.64. He was fourth in the 300 Hurdles with a time of 49.38. 

The Mustangs placed two in the High Jump. Mason Casner matched a personal best from last year and finished third with a height of 1.70 meters. Jordan DeLeon matched a season best with a tie for fifth and a height of 1.65 meters.

North Harrison

Erica Gerken battled the wind and a loaded field and finished fifth in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 18.98. Jaxcynn Hansel got a personal best in the Discus with a throw of 23.04 meters. 

The highlight of the day for North Harrison was Lane Graham winning the Long Jump for the boys. He had a personal best jump of 5.94 meters. 

Junior High Mustangs Compete at North Andrew

North Nodaway’s junior high track team competed Thursday at the Junior High Cardinal Relays at North Andrew, with the girls getting four team points.

For the girls, Mid-Buchanan had 82, West Platte 63.5, North Platte 54, Mound City 53, East Atchison 53, St. Gregory’s 38.5, South Holt 26, Riverside 7th 18, Buchanan County Middle School 16, Riverside 8th 16, Avenue City 12, Nodaway Valley 9, Union Star 6, North Andrew 6, Maysville 5, North Nodaway 4, and St. Joseph Christian 2.

For the boys, North Platte had 68, Mound City 56, North Andrew 53, St. Joseph Christian 49, Riverside 8th 47, Avenue City 35, East Atchison 32, Nodaway Valley 32, Maysville 24, South Holt 14, Buchanan County Middle School 14, Mid-Buchanan 11, Union Star 10, Riverside 7th 10, St. Gregory’s 4, Southwest Livingston 4, and West Platte 2.

Trynzlee Ebrecht accounted for North Nodaway’s points with a fourth place finish in the 100 Hurdles. She got a personal best time of 20.31. Piper Smith got a season best with 24.96. Zoey Phillips got a personal best in the Long Jump with a jump of 3.44 meters. 

For the boys, Jackson Keho got a personal best in the 100 with a time of 13.54. Tristen Wray also got a personal best with a time of 18.24. Keho got a personal best in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.31 meters. 

 

Junior High Bluejays Start Off Track Season

Northeast Nodaway’s junior high track squad finally got off the ground Monday, April 8th at Mound City after a series of rainouts and cancellations to start the year.  

For the girls, Rock Port had 155.5, Mid-Buchanan 122, East Atchison 64.5, Mound City 55, St. Gregory’s 50, Platte Valley 26, Buchanan County Middle School 25, South Holt 24, St. Joseph Christian 14, North Andrew 13, Nodaway Valley 12, NEN 9, Stewartsville/Osborn 8, and North Nodaway 1.

For the boys, Mound City won with 87. North Andrew had 85, Rock Port 79, St. Joseph Christian 66, Nodaway Valley 48, East Atchison 40, Buchanan County Middle School 39, Platte Valley 38, Mid-Buchanan 31, St. Gregory’s 31, NEN 15, South Holt 13, Stewartsville/Osborn 10, and North Nodaway 3.

For the girls, Rylee Scadden got a personal best in the 100, breaking the 15 second barrier and finishing seventh with a time of 14.89. The girls got two personal bests in the 200. Piper Gray got a personal best run of 32.60 seconds and Sadie Hall got a personal best with 32.88. Sadie Hall got a personal best in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 21.87.

The 4x100 team of Holly Bennett, Piper Gray, Sadie Hall, and Rylee Scadden was fourth with a time of 1:02.35. The 4x400 team of Piper Gray, Holly Bennett, Sadie Hall, and Rylee Scadden was seventh with a time of 5:38.65.

For the boys, Wyatt Scadden tried his hand at the 400 and was sixth with a time of 1:05.25. The 4x400 team of Gracin Runde, Xander Bodle, Wyatt Scadden, and Liam Cordell was eighth with a time of 4:52.65. Wyatt Scadden got a personal best in the High Jump and broke into the standings, getting an eighth place height of 1.47 meters. Liam Cordell got a personal best in the Long Jump with a jump of 3.93 meters. Jace Burns improved his throw in the Shot put by 1.75 meters, getting a throw of 8.48. Jace Burns improved his throw in the Discus by over 9 meters, getting a second place throw of 28.15. Brady O’Connell, out for track for the first time this year, tried his hand at it and finished with a seventh place throw of 24.40.

North Nodaway

The Mustangs got two personal bests in the 400. Lila Miller got a personal best run of 1:31.59, improving by over four seconds, while Chandra Wyllie got a personal best time of 1:38.08. Zoey Pearson got a personal best in the 1600 with a time of 7:06.76. 

The 4x400 team of Eliza Clements, Zoey Phillips, Zoey Pearson, and Trynzlee Ebrecht took 48 seconds off their time and finished eighth with a time of 5:34.40. 

Zoey Phillips got a personal best in the Long Jump with a jump of 3.16 meters. Eliza Clements got a season best in the Triple Jump with a jump of 7.20 meters. 

For the boys, Jackson Keho was eighth in the 100 with a time of 13.71. Trenton Roberts got a personal best in the 200 with a time of 35.67. Hayden Marriott got a personal best in the 400 with a time of 1:19.57. Draven Rader got a personal best in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 22.86. 

The 4x100 team of Robbie Forney, Owen Coleman, Hayden Marriott, and Jackson Keho was seventh with a time of 1:00.70. The 4x400 team of Reed Martin, Conner Pearson, Draven Rader, and Hudson Alexander improved their time by almost 20 seconds and had a time of 5:16.38. 

The Mustangs got two personal bests in the High Jump. Robbie Forney got a height of 1.42 meters, while Reed Martin improved to 1.32 meters. Hayden Marriott got a personal best in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.46 meters. Owen Coleman got a season best with a jump of 2.78. 

Tiger Boys Win First Meet of Year at King City

Worth County’s boys won their first meet all year, edging out Stanberry while the girls finished fourth.

For the girls, East Atchison had 103, St. Joseph Christian 83, Pattonsburg 76, Worth County 70, Albany 63, Platte Valley 61, Nodaway Valley 60, Gilman City 48, King City 43, DeKalb 34, Stanberry 32, Winston 21, NEN 14, North Andrew 4, Stewartsville/Osborn 3, and Union Star 2.

For the boys, Worth County had 117 and Stanberry 105. Neither team was challenged. Platte Valley and East Atchison had 59, Nodaway Valley 55, Albany 53, Winston 50, North Andrew 36.5, King City 34, North Harrison 30, North Nodaway 24, DeKalb 24, St. Joseph Christian 19, Stewartsville/Osborn 18, NEN 12, Union Star 9.5, Pattonsburg 7, and Gilman City 4.

For the girls, Emma Spencer won the 100 with a season best 13.35, beating out Claire Staley (King City), who had beaten her earlier in the year. Staley had 13.48 and Brooklyn Richardson was third with 13.54. 

Kristen Tracy was seventh in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 20.28 and eighth in the 300 Hurdles with a time of 59 seconds.

The 4x100 team improved for the third time in a row and won with a time of 52.51, edging out King City, who had a time of 52.57. The 4x200 was sixth with a time of 2:02.90. 

Riley Ridge was second in the High Jump with a height of 1.55 meters. Brooklyn Richardson was fifth with a height of 1.45. Eva Engel won the Pole Vault with a height of 3.20 meters. 

Emma Spencer was seventh in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.46 meters. Katelyn Fletchall got a season best in the Triple Jump with a jump of 8.20 meters. 

Kara Staton was fourth in the Shot Put with a throw of 9.30 meters. She was third in the Discus with a throw of 28.93. The Tigers placed two in the Javelin. Autumn Cousatte was seventh with a throw of 27.95. Brooklyn Richardson, who tried it for the first time at Rock Port, got a personal best and placed for the first time, getting eighth with a throw of 27.86.

For the boys, Landon Moser improved his time for the second meet in a row and was rewarded with a move up the ladder, getting a fifth place time of 12.45. Lucas Frisch improved on his time in the 100 Hurdles for the third meet in a row and won with a time of 16.26. Brayden Combs set a personal best for the second meet in a row and was third with a time of 19.38. Lucas Frisch won the 300 Hurdles as well for his second win, getting a time of 43.51. Brayden Combs was fifth with a time of 48.85.

The 4x100 team got a personal best and won with a time of 46.38. The 4x200 was third with a time of 1:46.20. The 4x400 team improved on their time by over three seconds and was second with a time of 3:52.07. 

Andrew Griffin got a personal best in the High Jump and won with a height of 1.75 meters. Brayden Combs matched a personal best in the Pole Vault and was third with a height of 2.90 meters. Wyatt Hill was fifth with a height of 2.60. 

Landon Moser was fourth in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.56 meters. Moser was second in the Triple Jump with a season best 11.77 meters. 

Bo Collins came back for Friday’s meet at King City and got a personal best in the Shot Put with a throw of 12.39 meters, good enough for second place. Ethan Lininger got a personal best for the second meet in a row, placing fifth with a throw of 10.39 meters. Collins was third in the Discus with a throw of 36.69. Tyler New was second in the Javelin with a throw of 41.58 meters. 

NEN

Baylie Busby matched a season best in the High Jump and was fourth with a height of 1.45 meters. Blair Nelson tried her hand at the Triple Jump and was sixth with a jump of 8.83 meters. Dalanie Auffert was sixth in the Shot Put with a throw of 8.38 meters. She was also sixth in the Discus with a throw of 24.35. 

For the boys, Jude Archer was seventh in the 100 with a personal best time of 12.62. He got another personal best in the 400, where he finished eighth with a time of 1:00.28. Kenneth Schieber got a season best in the 800 with a time of 2:41. He was seventh in the 3200 with a time of 13:01.71. 

The Bluejays may have found a new Javelin thrower. Kyler Scadden was fifth in the event with a throw of 36.34 meters. Jude Archer, trying it for the first time, was right behind him with a throw of 36.31. 

North Nodaway

For the boys, Jeremiah Vinzant was eighth in the 3200 with a season best 13:34.03. Jordan DeLeon was fourth in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 19.43 and eighth in the 300 Hurdles with a time of 49.99. 

The 4x200 was seventh with a time of 1:59.20. 

Mason Casner was third in the High Jump with a height of 1.65 meters, a season best. Jordan DeLeon matched a season best and was fourth, also with a height of 1.65 meters. Casner was fifth in the Long Jump with a season best of 5.37 meters. 

North Harrison

For the girls, Jaxcynn Hansel got a season best in the 200 with a time of 32.40. She got a personal best in the Discus with a throw of 22.22 meters. 

For the boys, Kolton Graham got a personal best in the 100 with a time of 13.07. Lane Graham got a personal best in the 200 with a time of 26.58 and was eighth. Landon Johnson took another 2+ seconds off his time in the 400 and finished with a time of 1:06.93. 

The 4x100 team broke the 50 second barrier and finished fourth with a time of 49.43. The 4x200 team was sixth with a time of 1:58.85. 

The Shamrocks were 1-2 in the Long Jump. Wyatt Maize won with a jump of 5.91 meters. Lane Graham was right behind him with a personal best  jump of 5.59. 

Dillon Hartschen was seventh in the Discus with a throw of 28.33 meters. Kolton Graham was eighth in the Javelin with a throw of 32.58 meters. 

Tiger Girls Rise to Third at Rock Port; Brooklyn Richardson, Emma Spencer Finish 1-2 in 100

Worth County’s girls rose to third place Tuesday, April 9th at Rock Port as Brooklyn Richardson and Emma Spencer were 1-2 in the 100 Meter Dash. The boys, going without Bo Collins, who has been a main source of points in the throwing events, finished seventh, but they still collected 50 team points in a loaded field that included Mound City.

For the girls, Rock Port had 105, East Atchison 79.5, Worth County 74, Mound City 59.5, Nodaway Valley 46, St. Joseph Christian 45, Albany 43, Platte Valley 41, Stanberry 40, South Holt 22, Maryville JV 10, Hamburg 10, NEN 6, and Union Star 1.

For the boys, Mound City had 149, Platte Valley 76.33, East Atchison 66, Stanberry 62.33, Rock Port 54, Albany 53, Worth County 50, Nodaway Valley 31, Maryville JV 20, St. Joseph Christian 14, NEN 8, Union Star 2.33, South Holt 2, and North Nodaway 1.

After being edged out by Spencer all year, Brooklyn Richardson won the 100 with a time of 13.45 seconds. Emma Spencer was right being with a time of 13.53. Both had season bests. The two were 2-3 in the 200. Emma Spencer got a personal best in the event and finished second with a time of 28.22. Brooklyn Richardson finished third with a time of 28.75, trying it out for the first time. 

Riley Ridge and Kristen Tracy both got personal bests in the 100 Hurdles. Riley Ridge was third with a time of 18.14. Kristen Tracy finished just out of the money in seventh, but improved by .39 of a second down to 18.82. 

The 4x100 team got a personal best and won with a time of 52.91. The 4x400 took almost seven seconds off their time and got a time of 5:08.54. 

Riley Ridge won the High Jump and improved on her height, getting a height of 1.60 meters. Eva Engel won the Pole Vault on tiebreaks over Ava Barnes, getting a height of 3.35 meters. 

Kara Staton was fourth in the Shot Put with a season best of 9.53 meters. Autumn Cousatte improved on her Javelin throw by 1.64 meters from the Early Bird, getting fifth place with a personal best 28.34 meters.

For the boys, Landon Moser got a personal best in the 100 with a time of 12.52. In the 100 Hurdles, Lucas Frisch, trying to chase down August Meadows of Mount City in the 110 Hurdles, finished second and got a personal best of 16.51. Brayden Combs, who had been hovering around the 19.73 barrier all year, broke through it and got sixth with a personal best time of 19.50. In the 300 Hurdles, Frisch improved on his time by 1.34 seconds and finished second behind Meadows with a time of 42.69. Brayden Combs, who ran it several times last year, did it for the first time this year and improved on his time from last year by 1.18 seconds, getting a time of 47.59. 

The 4x100 relay team was third with a time of 47.16. The 4x400 was fifth with a time of 3:56.73.

Andrew Griffin was third in the High Jump with a height of 1.68 meters. Brayden Combs was fifth in the Pole Vault with a personal best height of 2.90 meters.

In the Long Jump, Andrew Griffin, trying it for the first time, finished fourth with a jump of 5.57 meters. In the Triple Jump, Landon Moser was fourth with a jump of 11.50. Andrew Griffin was sixth with a jump of 10.83. 

Ethan Lininger got a personal best in the Shot Put with a throw of 9.51 meters, an improvement of 1.07 over his throw in the Early Bird. Tyler New was second in the Javelin with a throw of 41.87 meters. Ethan Lininger got a personal best with a throw of 24.11. 

NEN

Baylie Busby was third in the High Jump with a height of 1.43 meters. Dalanie Auffert got a personal best in the Shot Put with a throw of 8.96 meters. Hayley Yost got a personal best in the Discus with a throw of 18.02 meters. That was an improvement of 1.28 meters over her previous throw at the Early Bird. Baylie Busby got a personal best in the Javelin with a throw of 27.35 meters. That was an improvement of 1.22 meters over her throw at the Early Bird. 

For the boys, Jude Archer got a season best in the 100 with a time of 12.94. Chase Allen improved his time in the 800 by over 10 seconds, getting a personal best of 2:32.36. Chase Allen got a personal best in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.87 meters, an improvement by .55 of a meter from the Early Bird. Toryn Privett got a personal best in the Shot Put with a throw of 8.51 meters. Kyler Scadden was third in the Javelin with a throw of 35.95 meters. 

North Nodaway

Jordan DeLeon improved his time in the 300 by 1.73 seconds and finished sixth with a time of 46.83. 

Junior High Mustangs Get First Meet Underway

The North Nodaway junior high track team competed in its first track meet Thursday at Tarkio. For the girls, Rock Port had 113.50, East Atchison 52.50, South Holt 16, Nodaway Valley 8, and North Nodaway 3. For the boys, Rock Port had 74, Nodaway Valley 47, East Atchison 46, South Holt 22, and North Nodaway 6.

For the girls, Trynzlee Ebrecht got a personal best in the 200 with a time of 32.80. Ebrecht also got a personal best in the 100 Hurdles, with a time of 20.37. 

The 4x200 team of Trynzlee Ebrecht, Eliza Clements, Chandra Wyllie, and Zoey Phillips was third with a time of 2:20.30.

Zoey Phillips got a personal best in the Long Jump with a jump of 3.01 meters. That was an improvement of .76 of a meter over last year. 

For the boys, Jackson Keho got a personal best in the 100 with a time of 13.56. That was .87 of a second better than last year. Robbie Forney also got a personal best with a time of 15.57. Forney showed dramatic improvement in the 200, where he improved by over six seconds and got a time of 32.10. Connor Pearson improved by over 17 seconds in the 1600, finishing with a time of 6:22.93. Draven Rader improved his time in the 100 Hurdles from last year by over three seconds, finishing with a time of 25.05.

The 4x100 team of Reed Martin, Owen Coleman, Robbie Forney, and Jackson Keho was third with a time of 59.59. The 4x200 team of Tristen Wray, Trenton Roberts, Cade Miller, and Hayden Marriott was fourth with a time of 2:18.61. The 4x400 team of Gannon Stricker, Conner Pearson, Draven Rader, and Hudson Alexander was fourth with a time of 5:36.32.

Robbie Forney got a personal best in the High Jump and finished third with a height of 1.37 meters. 

Jackson Keho got a personal best in the Triple Jump with a jump of 8.89 meters. 

Tiger Girls Third, Boys Fourth at Stanberry Track Meet

Worth County’s girls were third and the boys fourth at the Stanberry track meet Friday.

For the girls, East Atchison won with 76 points, Mound City 70, Worth County 54, St. Joseph Christian 48, Maysville 47, Gallatin 42, Platte Valley 40, Pattonsburg 38, Albany 37, Stanberry 36, Nodaway Valley 31, South Holt 30, DeKalb 8, King City 4, NEN 4, and East Harrison 2.

For the boys, Mound City ran away with the meet, getting 157 points. Platte Valley had 75, Stanberry 72, Worth County 71, Albany 53, Gallatin 48, East Atchison 26, Maysville 19, St. Joseph Christian 19, DeKalb 14, King City 14, Stewartsville/Osborn 6, Nodaway Valley 5, North Nodaway 3, South Holt 2, and Pattonsburg 2.

For the girls, Emma Spencer edged out Brooklyn Richardson in the 100. Spencer was third with a time of 13.81, and Richardson was fourth with a time of 13.82. Both took three tenths of a second off their Early Bird time. Spencer, trying her hand at the 200 for the first time this year, knocked over a second off her time and won it with a time of 28.28. Both Riley Ridge and Kristen Tracy knocked time off the 100 Hurdles. Ridge improved her time this year by .29 of a second and was fourth with a time of 18.68. Tracy knocked .39 of a second off her time and was sixth with a time of 19.21. Kristen knocked almost a second off her time in the 300 Hurdles and was sixth with a time of 56.40. 

The 4x100 team knocked almost a second off their time and won with a time of 53.40. The 4x200 knocked 1.55 off their time and finished sixth with a time of 2:01.27. The Tigers also put a 4x400 team on the track and finished sixth with a time of 5:15.36.

Riley Ridge matched a personal best in the High Jump and won with a height of 1.55 meters. Eva Engel and Ava Barnes (Mound City) continued their duel in the Pole Vault, with Engel winning with a height of 3.50 meters and extending her school record. She matched a personal best, which she got during the offseason. Barnes was second with a height of 3.20 meters.

Kara Staton was sixth in the Shot Put with a season best throw of 9 meters. Staton was fourth in the Discus with a season best throw of 30.15. She improved on her previous throw by 1.35 meters. 

For the boys, Lucas Frisch took 1½ seconds off his time in the 110 Hurdles and was second with a time of 16.52. Brayden Combs was fourth with a time of 19.74, close to a personal best. Lucas Frisch got a personal best in the 300 Hurdles and was second with a time of 44.03. 

The 4x100 team was second with a personal best time of 46.88. The 4x200 took almost four seconds off their time and finished fourth with a time of 1:42.78. The 4x400 was fourth with a time of 3:55.73. 

Andrew Griffin was fifth in the High Jump with a personal best of 1.70. Wyatt Hill matched a personal best in the Pole Vault and was fifth with a height of 2.74 meters. Brayden Combs was sixth with a height of 2.59.

Landon Moser was fifth in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.53 meters. He matched a season best in the Triple Jump and was third with a jump of 11.63.

Bo Collins was fourth in the Shot Put with a throw of 11.86 meters. He won the Discus with a throw of 38.04 meters. Ethan Lininger improved his distance by over three meters and got a throw of 28.66. Tyler New was second in the Javelin with a season best throw of 42.86. 

NEN

For the girls, Baylie Busby was fourth in the High Jump with a height of 1.40 meters. 

North Nodaway

Jordan DeLeon took 1½ seconds off his time in the 300 Hurdles and was sixth with a time of 48.56. He was sixth in the High Jump with a height of 1.60 meters. 

Bo Collins Wins Twice, Riley Ridge Wins High Jump at Early Bird; Gerken 3rd in 100 Hurdles for Shamrocks

Bo Collins won twice in the throwing events while Riley Ridge picked up where she left off last year by winning the High Jump at the Worth County Early Bird Thursday. For North Harrison, Erica Gerken picked up where she left off last year in the 100 Hurdles and Wyatt Maize got a strong showing in the Triple Jump. 

For the girls, East Atchison had 83, South Harrison 73, Pattonsburg 63, Nodaway Valley 50, Mound City 46, King City 46, Bedford 39, Worth County 39, Platte Valley 39, Albany 33, Gilman City 31, Stanberry 19, Winston 8, East Harrison 8, North Harrison 6, NEN 2, and Tri-County 1.

Mound City looks like it might be a team to beat on the boys side as they ran away with the meet with 151 points, over twice that of its nearest competitor. Bedford had 72, Worth County 61, Stanberry 61, Albany 56, Platte Valley 46, East Atchison 27, Winston 23, Nodaway Valley 21, North Andrew 20, South Harrison 16, King City 12, North Harrison 11, NEN 8, North Nodaway 3, and East Harrison 1. Out of the top four teams, Mound City does not have baseball, Stanberry will not offer it until next year, and Bedford, like other Iowa schools, plays it in the summer. Worth County was the top team of all the schools that offer baseball during the spring.

For the girls, Emma Spencer was fourth in the 100 with a time of 14.11. Brooklyn Richardson was right behind her at fifth with a time of 14.19. Emma Spencer was sixth in the 200 with a time of 30.84. Riley Ridge was fifth in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 18.97. 

The 4x100 that won state and broke a 39 year old record held by the 1984 Worth County squad has three of their four runners back, but has a big hole to fill with the graduation of Hailey Adwell. The team of Brooklyn Richardson, Keira Hardy, Rayleigh Smith, and Emma Spencer was third with a time of 54.22. 

Riley Ridge matched a personal best and won the High Jump with a height of 1.55 meters. One of the closest races involving Worth County involved the Pole Vault. Eva Engel and Ava Barnes (Mound City) left the rest of the competition in the dust and both cleared 3.20 meters. Neither could clear 3.36, and neither had an advantage in tiebreaks, so they had to do a sudden death match to determine the winner. Eva Engel won with a height of 3.28 as she cleared it and Barnes couldn’t. 

Kara-Jean Staton was fifth in the Shot Put with a throw of 8.90 meters. She was sixth in the Discus with a throw of 28.80 meters. Autumn Cousatte was sixth in the Javelin with a throw of 27.13 meters.

For the boys, Landon Moser was fourth in the 100 with a time of 12.66. Tyler New was seventh in the 200, but got a personal best with a time of 24.79. Lucas Frisch was third in the 110 Hurdles with a time of 18.02. Brayden Combs was sixth with a personal best time of 19.73. Lucas Frisch was third in the 300 Hurdles with a time of 45.28. 

The 4x100 team of Andrew Griffin, Landon Moser, Bo Collins, and Lucas Frisch was third with a time of 47.01. The 4x200 team of Tyler New, Cole Ruby, Bo Collins, and Wyatt Hill was fourth with a time of 1:45.33. 

Andrew Griffin was eighth in the High Jump but matched a personal best with a height of 1.60 meters. Brayden Combs was fifth in the Pole Vault with a height of 2.74 meters. Wyatt Hill was eighth in tiebreaks, but got a personal best with a height of 2.74 meters. 

Landon Moser was sixth in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.63 meters. Moser was sixth in the Triple Jump with a jump of 11.63 meters.

The highlight of the day for the boys was Bo Collins in the throwing events. He won the Shot Put handily, getting a throw of 11.94 meters. And in the Discus, he beat his nearest competitor by over five meters with a throw of 39.90. Tyler New ran away with the Javelin with a throw of 41.70 meters. 

NEN

Baylie Busby was sixth in the High Jump with a height of 1.45 meters. Severia Hall got a personal best in the Triple Jump with a jump of 6.50 meters. Dalanie Auffert was sixth in the Shot Put with a throw of 8.88 meters. Dalanie Auffert finished eighth in the Discus, but got a personal best throw of 27.50 meters. Baylie Busby was eighth in the Javelin, but got a personal best throw of 26.13 meters. For the boys, Kyler Scadden was second in the Javelin with a personal best throw of 37.35 meters.

North Nodaway

Jordan DeLeon was eighth in the 300 Hurdles, but got a personal best with a time of 50.06. He was fourth in the High Jump with a height of 1.65 meters. 

North Harrison

Erica Gerken picked up where she left off last year in the 100 Hurdles. By the end of the year last year, she was placing after starting the year at 22 seconds; this year, she was third with a time of 18.70. Her goal is to break the school record this year.

For the boys, the 4x100 team of Kolton Graham, Lane Graham, Evan Schreiber, and Wyatt Maize was sixth with a time of 50.77. They will be a force to be reckoned with as everyone on that squad returns next year. The 4x200 squad placed as well, and they will return everyone next year as well. The team of Evan Schreiber, Landon Johnson, Noah Guy, and Lane Graham was sixth with a time of 1:49.50. The 4x400 team of Kolton Graham, Tate Richardson, Landon Johnson, and Lane Graham was sixth with a time of 4:18. 

A freshman, Wyatt Maize, made an impressive debut in the Triple Jump, getting second with a jump of 12.44 meters. He is following in the footsteps of Tyson Gibson, who dominated that event previously for the Shamrocks. Griffin Dougherty got a personal best in the Shot Put with a throw of 8.87 meters.

Tiger Girls 4x100 Breaks School Record at Sectional Meet

Worth County qualified several athletes from both the boys and the girls side at sectionals Saturday. The highlight was the girls 4x100 breaking the school record and winning to make it to state.

For the girls, Emma Spencer got second in the 100 with a personal best 12.96. She has improved from 14.20 at Rock Port to 12.96 Saturday. Brooklyn Richardson was fifth with a time of 13.33. She took almost a second off her time and will return as well. Emma Spencer had trailed Kayley Hauber (Platte Valley) all year, but finally finished past her and Claire Staley (King City).

The 4x100 team of Hailey Adwell, Brooklyn Richardson, Rayleigh Smith, and Emma Spencer beat Drexel in a photo finish with Worth County getting a school record time of 51.22 while Drexel got a time of 51.28. 

Riley Ridge qualified in the High Jump with a height of 4’11”. That was good enough for third place. Eva Engel qualified for state in the Pole Vault with a height of 10’6¼”. Ali Brown qualified in the Javelin with a throw of 115’9”, good enough for second. 

For the boys, Levi Cassavaugh did all he could in the 400, taking a second off his time, but finished second to Trotter Hughes (Wellington-Napoleon) with a time of 51.83. John Galanakis narrowly missed out in the 110 Hurdles, finishing fifth with a time of 16.88. He took over two seconds off his time over the course of the year. Lucas Frisch also got edged out and took fifth; however, he got a personal best in the 300 Hurdles with a time of 44.13. He improved by five seconds from the start of the year. He will return; he is only a freshman.

The 4x100 team of Levi Cassavaugh, Brayden Stevens, John Galanakis, and Lucas Frisch was fifth with a time of 46.02. They got their best time all year, but got edged out by two tenths of a second. They improved by two seconds over the course of the year.

The 4x200 team of Tyler New, John Galanakis, Landon Moser, and Levi Cassavaugh made it, getting third with a personal best time of 1:34.81. That was two seconds better than their previous best time and 12+ seconds better than at the start of the year.

The 4x400 team of Lucas Frisch, Ethan Frese, Tyler New, and Levi Cassavaugh did all they could, knocking almost six seconds off their time. But it wasn’t enough as they finished fifth and did not qualify; they were .14 of a second short. They got a time of 3:38.85, which was 31 seconds better than their time at the start of the year.

Landon Moser did all he could, getting a personal best jump of 39’8½” in the Triple Jump, but it was just under two feet short of qualifying as he got sixth place.

The Tigers qualified two in the Shot Put. Jase Latham won the Shot Put with a throw of 45’11¼”. And Elias Alarcon got a personal best and fourth place with a throw of 42’7½”. 

Elias Alarcon came up short in the Discus, finishing fifth with a throw of 106’9”. Tyler New was seventh in the Javelin with a throw of 121’3”. 

NEN

Baylie Busby qualified for state with a fourth place finish of 4’10¼”. With that, she broke the school record held jointly by herself and Michelle Schulte. 

North Nodaway

Mason Richardson got a personal best in the Long Jump and qualified for state, getting a third place jump of 19’10¾”. 

North Harrison

Competing at South Shelby, Tyson Gibson missed out on the High Jump, finishing seventh with a height of 5’7¾”. But he won outright in the Triple Jump with a jump of 43’3¾” to qualify for state.

Junior High Bluejays, Mustangs Compete at Highway 275 Meet

The Northeast Nodaway and North Nodaway junior high track teams competed for the last time at the Highway 275 conference meet last Tuesday, May 2nd.

For the girls, Rock Port ran away with it with 155 points. East Atchison had 73.5, Nodaway Valley 65.6, Mound City 60, South Holt 33, Stewartsville/Osborn 32, NEN 20, Buchanan County Middle School 14, Platte Valley 6, Union Star 4, and North Nodaway 2.

For the boys, Rock Port had 126, Nodaway Valley 110, East Atchison 58, South Holt 44, Platte Valley 35, Mound City 33, NEN 21, North Nodaway 18, Union Star 10, Buchanan County Middle School 5, and Stewartsville/Osborn 5.

NEN

Blair Nelson was third in the High Jump with a height of 4’6”. Brianna Meyer was sixth in the Discus with a throw of 61’5½”. She was fifth in the Shot Put with a throw of 27’5½”. Nelson was third in the Long Jump with a jump of 13’6¼”. Georgia Taylor matched a personal best with a jump of 11’3½”. 

The Bluejays got two personal bests in the 100. Rylee Scadden got a personal best of 15.08, while Georgia Taylor got a personal best of 16.31. Piper Gray got a personal best in the 200 with a time of 33.70. 

The 4x100 team of Piper Gray, Rylee Scadden, Brianna Meyer, and Holly Bennett was fifth with a time of 1:05.17. 

Brianna Meyer was sixth in the 800 with a personal best time of 2:55.71.

The 4x400 team of Sadie Hall, Georgia Taylor, Bristol Hicks, and Rylee Scadden was fifth with a personal best time of 5:13.29. That was 11 seconds better than their previous best time and 43 seconds better than at the start of the year.

For the boys, Toryn Privett got a personal best in the Discus with a throw of 86 feet. He nearly doubled his throw from the start of the year. Jace Burns got a personal best in the Shot Put with a throw of 22’1”. 

Reece Gray was second in the Long Jump with a jump of 17’¼”. Xander Bodle matched a personal best with a jump of 10’7½”. 

Jude Archer got a personal best in the 100 prelims with a time of 12.89. He finished fourth with a time of 13.01. Reece Gray got a personal best in the 100 prelims with a time of 13.06. He finished sixth with a time of 13.13. 

Wyatt Scadden got a personal best in the 200 prelims with a time of 29.17. He was sixth with a time of 29.38. Xander Bodle got a personal best with a time of 32.12, three seconds better than his previous high.

Chase Allen got a season best in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 23.07. Jude Archer was third in the 400 with a time of 1:00.55, close to a personal best. Allen got a personal best in the 800 with a time of 2:42.40. 

The 4x400 team of Reece Gray, Liam Cordell, Jude Archer, and Lance Runde was sixth with a personal best time of 4:30.85. They improved 14 seconds since the start of the season.

North Nodaway

For the girls, Jenayeah Howard got a personal best in the Discus with a throw of 49’11¼”. Lily Blaine got a personal best in the Triple Jump with a jump of 24’10¾”. Zoey Phillips got another personal best with a jump of 22’1¼”. 

Mya Hansen got a personal best in the 100 with a time of 32.01 in the prelims. She finished eighth with a time of 32.30. Pyper Smith got a personal best in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 22.91. 

The 4x200 team of Mya Hansen, Trynzlee Ebrecht, Lily Blaine, and Laney Turner was fifth with a personal best time of 2:12.77. 

Pyper Smith got a personal best in the 1600 with a time of 7:52.08. She improved by over a minute from the start of the year. Smith also got a personal best in the 400 with a time of 1:30.89. She improved over her last run by over 8 seconds. 

Taccoa Moyer got a personal best in the 800 with a time of 3:19.70. That was an improvement of 33 seconds from her last run. 

For the boys, Marek Stevens got a personal best in the High Jump with a height of 4’2”. Tommy Stringer got a personal best in the Shot Put with a throw of 20’2¼”. 

Ridge Clements won the Long Jump with a jump of 17’7½”, close to a personal best. Clements was third in the 200 with a time of 27.09. Owen Coleman got a personal best with a time of 34.96. 

Jackson Keho was seventh in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 20.36, .75 of a second faster than his previous best. 

Ridge Clements was fifth in the 400 with a time of 1:03.28. Draven Rader got a personal best in the 800 with a time of 3:03.46, over 11 seconds better than his previous best time.
