Bluejay Boys Assist Mark is 5th Most in State History

It turned out that the Northeast Nodaway boys basketball team took fifth in the state for most assists in a game for getting 34 against North Harrison on January 16th, tying them with three other teams. They also took the 16th place spot on December 11th, 2020, getting 28 against King City. They also tied for the 19th place spot on December 22nd, getting 26 assists against DeKalb. That tied them with the Northeast Nodaway 1985-86 squad, which got 26 assists in the third place game win over Lockwood on March 1st, 1986.

In that game, the Bluejays won 78-47 over North Harrison in a game in which they somehow kept pulling away despite horrific foul trouble. Zach Pride had 9 assists in that game. Colton Swalley had 8, Ben Boswell and Lane Dack 7 each, Dylan McIntyre 2, and Auston Pride 1. The game turned out to a wakeup call for the Shamrocks, who started playing much better after that game, secured a winning season, and got to the District Championship game.

The state record for assists in a game is 40, set by Mack's Creek on December 6th, 2019.
